Rotten Tomatos determines what I like and don't like, and if they don't gross at least a billion dollars world wide, my life will be a failure.
My favorite part of nerd movie releases is the revolt of RT and other reviews. If the reviews were great though (Guardians or Winter Soldier) then we'll pay attention. Happens every time.
The hilarious thing about the rage against RottenTomatoes is that..the website is nothing. It's literally just a collection of reviews written by other people that it collects, and unlike Metacritic (which uses a grade from 1-10) just makes a harsh decision between rotten and fresh. I personally feel you can definitely use RT as a form of grading, but to go completely nuts over it is kind of silly. tl;dr: go watch Avengers Age of Ultron.
I would just like to take this moment to say a big fat 'Fuck You' to whoever's responsible for the latest TV spot that totally spoils The Vision. I have been actively avoiding this thread for a long time because it was getting way too spoilerish. When people started posting stuff on The Vision, which I knew was gonna be in the movie anyway, I stopped visiting this thread to avoid being spoiled. And then last night while watching TV I'm treated to the latest TV spot that just blatantly shows The Vision. Expletives were uttered following it. So yeah, to the person or persons involved in making that trailer and putting it on TV 2 weeks before the freaking movie is released in the US, fuck you. Just fuck you.
Well said. Most of you will likely have a really good time when see it. Look forward to it. Don't let a website dictate what films you should and shouldn't see. Hell, our theater was full of loud people and I still had a great time with the film
While I haven't seen the TV spot yet, I do agree that showing it now does kind of ruin things. I think a brief scene of him in a trailer (minus the face thing) would have been enough. True.
It's pretty much how one should use that site to get the general consensus...then again audiences are not critics and vice versa.
You shouldn't blame Marvel for promoting a member of their films. The Vision got an appearance in a few TV spots, but they weren't really anything too major. That's just sad.
Yeah it's even got a ridiculous name too. It seems odd there are plenty of small hick towns in the US that all they have is a WM and a fancy theater. If your business cant afford to do business it's not Disney's fault you aren't turning enough profits to afford their movies. It's so annoying when people think places should just stay in business and manage to somehow pay their workers, even if they aren't doing good business, that's not how business works. OMG, I might have to go to a major city to see a movie in a fancy large theater. Wait, so they make fun of an online fictional character and people are offended by this, it's not like they called Scarlett Johansen those names, I'm sure she could care less about it she's getting paid tons o' money just like them.
I think most of the hate coming from it is due to Black Widow being our only female protagonist (well, now we have Scarlet Witch, but you get what I mean). But yeah, first avengers movie everyone thought she was with hawkeye, she was very good friends with Cap in his second movie, and now she's seeing Banner. The guy playing Hawkeye was asked what was up with that and he jokingly said "well, she's a slut". If it was in any other context I'd be annoyed, but fuck me, it was clearly a joke and not meant seriously. I get why they've apologised and stuff but it should just be left at that. The reason it's being blow out of proportion is jut because Avengers just came out, anyways. It's a hit topic etc
Well in the comics she's been with Hawkeye, Hercules, Daredevil, and Bucky among others. So the fictional character does get around. But yeah,it was clearly a joke. But these days everything needs to be PC so unless you announce it's humor people get offended.
The Vision was the surprise reveal for the movie though. Sure, us comic geeks already knew, but general audiences most likely don't. Plus I really wanted the first time I saw Vision to be IN the freaking theater watching the movie.
