It was nominated, "won" some Razzies, and rightly so.

I can enjoy mediocre and just plain bad movies, but I found nothing about BvS enjoyable. I know that people can enjoy whatever they want, and I probably wouldn't care if it was left at that, but the thing I find most annoying about this movie isn't anything from the movie itself. No, it's obnoxious, pretentious fanboys that are somehow convinced of the movie's supposed deep, nuanced, and thought provoking message and themes. You know, the sort of people that insist that it was just too smart for critics.

Because sure, people don't criticize this movie because it was poorly written, structured, and crammed full of unnecessary things and pseudo philosophy. No, critics are just too stupid to understand and didn't pay attention. If we'd just "pay attention" we'd understand perfectly and see it for the genius it is.

...I apologize for the rant, but I've seen that kind of thing way too much, and not even just in relation to this movie.

None of the award shows are really about the best. There is always some sort of politics to the business that will cloud the judgement. For example with the Oscars from an achievement point of view Transformers should have taken best special effects but because one of the people who worked on the Golden Compass died around the time of the voting the Golden Compass took the award. Or in 1992 it was considered almost a shoe in that Beauty and the Beast would take the best picture award but then it got cheated out of that honor because the old farts that vote on who gets the Oscar felt threatened by anything but live action getting the award.

The Razzies aren't just about being bad. If you can be both what should one of the biggest movies of the year and really really bad at the same time then your chances go up. Those bad movies that just bombard us with advertising are more likely to get the award than the really really bad films that come and go with very little fuss or fan fair.

Although I can't feel bad about Batman v Superman getting Razzies. Just nothing at all about the movie that I enjoyed. The only amazing thing for me was they somehow managed to rip out everything I love about comic books. It was like two goth kids cosplaying Batman and Superman while having a pissing contest.

Yeah, it's this marvel vs DC mentality that doesn't let them see how bad these movies are. I like marvel and DC. While I wish the marvel movies weren't so repetitive, they are still worlds better than the DC movies. And I wish they just would be great. I enjoy their animated movies a lot and I don't get, why they can't make something like this with live action?

I think the Marvel vs DC mentality is affecting the creators @ WB, too. Financially, the want to do exactly what Marvel has done, but everyone seems to have a chip on their shoulder about aping Marvel. Remember when Snyder made some dig about Ant-Man in the run up BvS? The go through all these convoluted efforts to make the DC superhero films more serious or whatever, and no matter what WB does with DC, the Marvel films are the standard by which they are judged, fairly or not.

I think Marvel has just become synonymous with superheroes at this point, and, even though DC is home to the most iconic superheroes in the history of the genre, there's no way for them to establish themselves as anything else than an also-ran in the current pop culture climate. Now Superman and Batman will always be iconic. WB can cash in on that S-Shield and Bat-Symbol until the end of time, but that merchandising doesn't need to be fed by media content. It'll always be there.

I think WB should just abandon the capes and tights superheroics and focus on translating DC content that will differentiate them from the Avengers-based Marvel movies, stuff like:

    The Fourth World Saga
    Kamandi
    OMAC
    Warlord
    The Unknown Soldier
    Sgt. Rock
    Human Target
    Blackhawks
    Adam Strange
    Transmetropolitan
    Sandman
    Y: The Last Man
    Fables

We already had a John Carter movie not that long ago. By Disney, no less.

Batman V Superman was pretty good. Not sure why it was given any Razzies over actual bad movies.

You know.... I rarely, if ever, agree with the Razzies... they have about the same record of agreeing with me as the Oscars! :lol

The movies they RAVE about, I usually hate, the movies they HATE, I usually LOVE. :thumb
I enjoyed BvsS, I loved Gods of Egypt.. whoopdeedoo. :popcorn

So big whoop what the Razzies think. ;)

Did I use enough smilies? :p

I don't give a crap about the Razzies, but if one person says it's 2:00pm while another person insists it's 2:00am, and the sun is high in the sky, I can tell which one knows what they're talking about.
