Just shy of the ending of 118.

Episode 1 covered the end of 115, all of 116, and almost all of 117.

like I get that there are some big cliffhangers packed close together in this part of the story, but it’ll drag out way too long if you try to end each episode with one.

So why the hell are they still going it The Final Season if it still isn't going to be the end of the series?

And if they can't even cover a single manga chapter in 22 minutes, how would they cover 8 chapters in a single movie?

Did they at least get rid of the awful CGI Titans?

 

No, and because they are probably going to do a movie for the finale.

 

That's so dumb. They clearly are just dragging the show out as long as they can at this point. Like how the hell can you even consider calling it The Final Season if you weren't going to make sure it was done in that final season? They should just change the names to The Road to the Final Season and The Final Season Is Almost Here.

 

12 episodes was more than enough to get from 116 to 140. 24 chapters. 12 eps. If you cover two chapters an episode, it’s all done.

The first ep of the season did that. The second barely covered one. And this one didn’t do too much more. Granted, some of the chapters for flashbacks and fight scenes take up more manga space than they would runtime, so we might get a few packed episodes. But, as of right now, we need two episodes to cover three chapters each to get back on track.

The rumor of a movie has been around, with people assuming a movie would finish the series after Season 4 ep 15. Even with the new season, that rumor is around. A leaker supposedly said the season will end on ep 131/132, leaving eight chapters for a movie. Movies are a big thing in anime, right now, thanks to the success of DBS:Broly and Demon Slayer Magen Train. More profitable than tv. Some shows may even continue entirely on movie format (Black Clover, for instance, is rumored to be getting a movie continuation instead of a tv continuation). It’s a dumb trend, but it reminds me of the 90s when OVAs were common and series were VHS only, like Bubblegum Crisis and what not

 

Totally. Depending on the length of the chapters, I always believe there is no reason a series should not cover 2-3 chapters per manga chapter.

If they were going to do a movie to finish the show off, fine, but they should have stated that in the first place a year ago instead of falsely advertising that they were finishing the show with The Final Season.

 

So how many chapters has this new episode adapted now? Still moving super slow?

 

I wouldn't mind if they did a movie to finish things off. With the amount of crazy shit that happens in the finale, I don't know how you can accomplish all of that on a TV budget without cutting corners.

 

This ep cut an entire sequence, so they did cover closer to two chapters instead of the 1-1.25 they’ve been doing

(Eren and the Scouts going to Marley in secret to learn about them / seek a peaceful solution… where they drink with some middle eastern refugees and Eren has a moment with Mikasa/asks her what he is to her). The scene happens before the Rumbling. Meant to show that Eren loves his friends,’has feelings for Mikasa, and that he was sad because there was no hope for peace / he’d have to do what he’s been doing in S4. Giving context for his choices and laying the seeds for the ending.

There’s a sad bit where he saves a child pickpocket from being arrested/beaten and Eren cries and apologizes as the kid thanks him… because Eren knows the kid will die in the Rumbling. The kid just thinks Eren is weird.

Maybe this will get spliced in later, as needed, but it was cut entirely and it’s half a chapter.

Ending it on Eren's message adds to the impact of the Rumbling starting, if they kept it as is then the episode would end with a sudden flashback to Marley. Having the flashback after the 2000 Years scene would just end up super compressed, and having Mikasa reflect on that moment after Eren @Everyone still works as she's wondering to herself if her saying something else could have changed it all

that's actually chapter 131, which I think will be where this season ends. We are at the end of 122 and at the same time the end of 123, plus the first page of 124.

That flashback occurs a few times - though the crying part of that flashback is from a later chapter/131. You’re right about that bit not being there.

Chapter 123. The Eren Mikasa flashback scene and the Marley expedition/drinking night are shown immediately before the Rumbling. The crying part occurred with those other events chronologically, but that part of the flashback wasn’t in the chapter, was an unseen bit shown later on 131. Kinda like how we saw multiple variants of Grisha vs the Reiss family, continually adding bits not shown before

It still astounds me how Eren commits the rumbling because a girl he liked rejected him, it is still one of the most pathetic motivations out there.

So waited for Part 2 of the current/final season to end of Attack on Titan so I could binge it but just found out there'll be a Part 3.

I just thought Part 2 was like how shows are now, split seasons within the year. But three parts...and another year to wait.


I dont read the manga so I didnt expect this.

 

At this rate One Piece will end before the Attack on Titan anime.

They really are going to milk this series for all its worth, aren't they? I'm really glad I dropped the anime after the first season.

 

Eh, the series is still pretty good, despite the "tease" it's become. That being said, they are prolonging this more than I have hoped. However, I still look forward towards it. Sucks we have to wait till next year for the Conclusion Arc.

 

Splitting seasons into parts is a cancer in the tv industry as a whole at this point
