I doubt that'll end up being the title, but if Devil May Care turns out to be the Bond 24 title, let's hope that's all they take from that book. It was a pretentious endeavor from the start ("Sebastian Faulks writing as Ian Fleming",) the story was forgettable, and one of the major plot points involved a character's use of colored contact lenses, which were a then-unheard of thing which Q apparently invented. Yeah, pass on that book.

I hope so. Quantum is already SPECTRE in all but name.

I don't really need them to go back to SPECTRE. And I don't need Blofeld again unless they are also going to redo the Tracy storyline. And I don't need that, either. Majesty's Secret Service is one of the few movies I can't see them possibly improving on in any way other than the lead actor. OHMSS is already essentially perfect.

Unless they decide to re-adapt ALL of the original novels, the way (and hopefully quality) they did Casino Royale, I'd rather see them go in completely new directions with new threats. Going back to Blofeld and SPECTRE (without re-adapting the novels) is lazy in the extreme.

Hmm, I really need to watch OHMSS. It's the only Bond movie I've never seen/owned, but I've seen quite a bit of praise about it, in recent years.

If Connery had stuck around to do this one instead of coming back for the lackluster Diamonds Are Forever, I think OHMSS would universally be considered the greatest Bond movie of the previous series. Easily. And even with Lazenby in it, it's still great. It's one of the few Bonds with a real emotional core, and it's one of the 3 Bond movies closest to the original novels they adapted.

Actually, it may have turned out better with Lazenby than it would have with Connery, because by that time, Connery was kind of going through the motions and his bond was too flippant. He might not have captured the vulnerability. Now if they could magically send Daniel Craig back in time to play Bond in OHMSS, he would have played it freaking perfectly. THAT would have been a movie.

On a side note, OHMSS also has one of John Barry's best scores. And that's saying something, because almost all his Bond scores were great. In some cases, like Golden Gun, they were practically the only great thing about them.

Blofeld sounds great. He'd be interesting for a new millennium: a criminal mastermind planning and scheming, a mix of the Mandarin, the Kingpin and Lex Luthor. And I've always seen him as OO7's archnemesis, so to bring him back is pleasing news.

I don't know what they'll do with Quantum though, either they'll retcon it out or have Blofeld in charge (and possibly rename it).

While i like Connery, I do not think On Her Majesty's Secret Service, would be nearly as good, nearly the wonderful film that it is, without Lazenby. in fact, i think all the bond movies, only work, with the actor they have picked to be in that movie. like Skyfall, wouldn't be nearly as good without Daniel Craig. even if it was Connery. and the Pierce Brosnan bond movies, being as goofy, and gadget heavy, as they were, would not work without Pierce as well. *it also would not of worked, if it was not the 90's either.*

i personally think each of these actors, including Roger Moore, *who is my least favorite Bond, especially in his later movies.* have all made their own version of Bond. each of them have their own take on the character. their own personality. and their own way of doing things.

Bond 24: Direct Sequel to Skyfall?

News from over the pond has it James Bond #24 will begin shooting in December, with an October 2015 release date.

A script read is scheduled for late in November.

What may be different however is that this film may be a direct sequel to Skyfall, as the complete cast ( minus Dench) is coming back. In the past films, they were all tied together, but nothing as a direct sequel dealing with the same plot points/issues/players

Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace weren't that long ago that you could have forgotten about them already.

Waltz would be a great choice, if true.
