HBO max is getting the first film. It's the directors cut.

I'm almost afraid to ask what's different in the director's cut. It's too bad because that movie (and Rise of the Silver Surfer) was written by Mark Frost, one of the two creators of Twin Peaks. So I went in with all the good will in the world, ready to forgive a lot. But those movies just aren't good.

More scenes like the herbie cameo and puppet masters puppets scene.

    Here is one of them.

So the question is, how the hell does HBO Max have the rights to put on a movie that Disney owns? Disney has owned Fox for almost, if not a, year now. I could see deals in place with other existing services like Netflix but HBOMax didn't even exist up to a few months ago. Isn't the point of various studios having their own streaming services is that their stuff goes on their service, not a competitors.

LOL if next month, Disney+ puts up Burton's Batman.

Fox and HBO had an existing deal which lets HBO stream Fox films until 2022, the deal is still in place even with Disney now being the owners.

Sure we didnt had HBO Max, but we had the other HBOs in which HBO streamed those films

This deal has been in place since 2012
