    the CW's Arrow

Got the ENS newsletter today, and found out this bit of tasty news:

The CW Gives Greenlight To 'Arrow'; Based On DC Comics Book Green Arrow - television Entertainment News
This is the first I've heard of this, and assuming the pilot is good and they give it the go ahead to continue, I'm looking forward to it. If nothing else, it should make for an interesting pilot. While I haven't seen much of Hartley's portrayal in Smallville, the bits I have seen didn't really wow me, so I can't say that I'm displeased to see that he won't be attached to the project. Hopefully they're able to get some decent actors/actresses for it. Would be great to see this spawn a movie too, but I'm getting a bit ahead of myself there. I'm reading the new 52 GA comics, so it should be interesting to be able to compare the two.

It's a new version according to various websites with no connection to smallville. But it could work as it would rely on a character with no powers. If they based it on the Mike Grell version it would work well.

No connection to Smallville?! Sweet! I'll definitely watch. We need more live-action DC heroes on the small screen imo (IF they don't turn out like that god awful WW show that got squashed).

Weren't we supposed to be seeing a new live-action Batman series sometime too??

The lack of a connection to Smallville is a very good thing, imho. As confusing as it got, adding on more to that wouldn't help. Also, starting from scratch with this show should be a really good thing. It'll give them the opportunity to present GA the way they want to, and tell his story without the limitations being tied to another show would have.

It's just too bad that live-action shows typically don't have toy-lines to go with them, lol...

Last I knew it was something they were interested in doing sometime in the future, but didn't really seem like it would be anytime soon.

I'm sure DCD will do something. They had a Smallville line when the show was still relatively new...

Seeing as Smallville went down the pan quite badly in season 10, I'm glad there will be no ties, but it would have been nice to see Hartley - one of Smallville's only saving graces between season 6-10 - back in the role.

For every Smallville there's a Birds of Prey.

We'll see how this turns out.

Thought this was going to be another series about the Avro Arrow, disappointed.

I don't mind them leaving this separate from Smallville, but I really liked the actor that portrayed him in Smallville. Wish he would reprise the role.

Justin Hartley was the man. I never even liked GA until Smallville. As bad as it was when it ended, that show hit a lot of good notes.

Hartley would have been fine for the new show, but I never did like the "voice" thing they did with him.

I enjoyed the Green Arrow books back in the early 90's when it was for mature readers.

He was easily one of my favorite actors from the show, but if they're not gonna make this a spin off... I'd probably rather see a different face. It was weird enough seeing him as Aquaman haha.

So far, so good. GA's one of my favourite DC characters so I'm interested to see how this turns out.

That costume looks awesome. If they do this right, this show could be great and be one of my favorite shows on television.

Looks a little better than the Smallville costume.

The costume looks good. It was inevitable that they would be going with the modern look for this. It's nice to see that this take on Ollie will be retaining at least some facial hair.

Should be interesting to see Stephen Amell playing the role. I can't say that I'm familiar with any of his previous work, but he does look the part.

One thing I like, and this could change, is the bow he has. Might seem odd, but to me it's nice to see him using something other than a compound bow.
