Clash of the Titans remake

Huh, strange that there are no threads about this. Shame too, because while it looks to be completely different from the original, it is managing to look fairly visually interesting. Almost looks like a Del Toro movie as well, especially with the armor that the Gods have!

Stars Sam Worthington as Perseus, Liam Neeson as Zeus and a few others. Directed by the same guy who did Incredible Hulk, and it's being written by the writer of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. This is what the director said in an interview in july of last year, on the style and how he got the job:

Quote:
First things first, when asked about the Kraken, his answer was "of course there will be the Kraken!" But he adds that it will be "a different Kraken. There will be much more. In the original film, there was no 'clash' and no 'titans.' Now you will see the Clash of the Titans." Additionally, Leterrier addresses concerns about 300 comparisons. "People say that it will be filmed like 300, that's not true. It will be photorealistic, with a big budget." And as for the genius special effects maven who made the original so memorable: "I want to do an homage to Ray Harryhausen. He's still alive and will be part of the film."

"In the beginning, Stephen Norrington was the director of this project. I called him. He had a problem finding a new trick for this remake. He didn't grow up watching Clash of the Titans [like I did]. So I called him, we share the same agent, and I asked him: do you really want to do it? He didn't want to make a new League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. So I told him, can I do it? And he said yes. So I told Warner Brothers - Desmond Davis, well, he's not the greatest director, but there was Ray Harryhausen and great actors and this movie is a childhood memory. If I do it, it will be different. It's still Perseus myth, but maybe to begin a franchise of Greek mythology. Because I love that! It's monsters and adventures…"

Leterrier adds a bit more, explaining his idea of a remake. "I've just made the remake of Ang Lee's Hulk, but it's not the same film. It will be the same situation for Titans. I don't want to do the same as the original… You have to change the mythology. I want to make adventure films because I want to see them! I want to make them with a new point of view."
Here are some of the promo pics:

And some (bad) pics of the posters:

Expecting the trailer to pop up soon, but until then there's this set video:

In before the "OMG Hollywood iz out of ideas and can't come up with original" comments.

I can't wait for this, the original is one of my favorites.

Michael Bay may not have raped my childhood, but I think he may have molested it.

Well, Liam Neeson certainly looks the part of Zeus. Badass beard and golden armour? Check. It's either that, or a badass beard, toga and thunderbolt combination. And I think the armour looks less ridiculous on the big screen.

I'll check out the trailer when it pops up. Original was pretty cool, if this is more of a reimagining than a remake, then it could be fairly awesome.

I don't see how people can complain about this being a remake since it's using the myth as its source material, just like the Harryhausen film did. Oh well, people just like to complain I suppose.

I'm looking forward to this, except for the lead. I'm not a big Sam Worthington fan. Here's hoping he'll pleasantly surprise me next year.

Given how Disney invented Pain and Panic, I very much doubt it.
