The Teaser Trailer for A Nightmare on Elm Street! - ComingSoon.net I could have sworn there was a thread for this movie but disregard this if that's the case.
I'm definately interested. IMO no one can replace Robert Englund but to have anyone else play Freddy I can't think of a better choice than Jackie Earle Haley.
Are you sure he's innocent, or SO evil that he thinks what he did was right and didn't warrant what they were doing to him?
exactly, i remember when i found out he's not just a killer, but was a child molester too. really upped the creepyness/evilness of the character
I Really don't think they are going to remove that. This is probably a situation where he didn't consider what he did wrong enough to warrant these parents chasing him around. Either that, or he was really scared.
I hope not. I don't mind if they add a new dynamic (it's the reason I love the Saw series), but Freddy is foking evil. I can't feel sorry for him, or root him one for vengence. Well in this version he didn't get killed in furnace basement.
In the original movie series, he was an unrepentant child molester/killer. Even in his dying moments he remained a monster, willing to make a deal with demons to continue his reign of terror from beyond the grave. In this, it looks as if he is innocent, but doesn't really mean that he is. I guess once more trailers and info comes out, we'll know for sure.
Freddy is my favorite slasher. EDIT: Watched. Looks fantastic. If I remember correctly, the movie would have the kids trying to figure out whether he was guilty or not. They want to find out he's innocent, but are shocked to find out he WAS guilty.
Awesomeness. Might be one of the few horror remakes I enjoy (the only others have been the Halloween movies, Amityville Horror, and The Hills Have Eyes). The problem with the original series was that it became so campy that people stopped looking at Freddy as a vicious killer/horror figure. He became a joke. I only own the first three NoES movies, and even parts 2 and 3 were pushing it. The first was truly terrifying and that's what I hope this remake captures. The only criticism I could end up seeing is the rehashing of the same scenes from the first movie (ie: the bathtub scene that's in the trailer). Those were great scenes in the first movie, but don't copy them literally - give them a twist or something refreshing.
he may not.. Just because he says "I didn't do anything.." doesn't mean he is innocent. He could be, but he is being hunted down by an angry mob. Maybe he is just trying to save his neck.
An innocent man doesn't go around killing people in their sleep. Vengeance isn't exactly a sympathetic trait.
