The running sounded light, so I naturally (in my subconscious attempt to rationalize) assumed it was one of them running to my mom's room on account of a nightmare. I checked the hall.
No one. I checked my mom's room.
No one except her. I check my younger brother's room. Both of them were still there. I checked my older brother's room.
No one but him.
