Collection Count: Probably more than my fair share | The characters are so dull I actually couldn't tell you the names of any of them, even the lead guy. And they lack chemistry with each other. So yeah, at the moment the concept is the only saving grace of the show. But they've really gotta start moving that along or I'm out. Episode one was great; so much going on. Then they dick about a whole episode with the German guy for one small clue, and then again an episode is wasted so people can find out the lead guy was drunk when he had his flash forwards, which the audience already knew.
I really want this show to succeed, and I know it's only been a handful of episodes so far, but it's like trying to love a woman who keeps ramming her knee into your groin. Autobloke in everything but name. |

I'm sick of being told everything as if I am unable to think for myself. I am invested in the characters. What happened last night was a good swerve, one that I was hoping they would try when I first heard of the concept. It will be interesting to see where it takes things.
I saw a Boxing commercial and it said "It's a fight to the finish" Thats a good place to end.

It's not that it was moving too slow, it was not moving at all, in my view. The last couple of episodes have been a little better in doing that and in getting more in depth character-wise.
I'm all for building up plots methodically, but you've got to throw some nuggets out to viewers every once in awhile. |

The concept is so unique that I don't mind the pace at all. Each small reveal makes me contemplate the theory of how time works within their universe, and if the FlashForward creates self-fulfilling prophecies. The stuff on his big board? How much of that is on there simply because he saw it? It may have no relevance whatsoever.
What happens if somebody does something completely radical to avoid what happens? Can it be avoided without resorting to killing yourself?
Unfortunately I missed the previous week's episode due to my media center flaking out, I'll have to check it out on Hulu.

Collection Count: Probably more than my fair share | I don't know how far behind I am to others. We had the Halloween episode last Monday. I'm assuming we're probably about equal then as I can't imagine them having a Halloween epsiode a couple of weeks before or after the real Halloween.
One thing I don't like in shows is when they leave you with a big tease to bring you back next time and then the next epsiode they don't start with that and in fact ignore it all the way through the episode and then use it as a tease again. Like the father of that kid being revealed as something to do with the blackout and then the whole next episode doesn't touch on it at all and then at the end it does it again to tease. A bit like in Defying Gravity (if anyone happens to have seen that show) where the guy opened the door to that thing at the end and then the next episode he ran away and it took him the whole epsiode before he went back and opened it again at the end. I'm sure it doesn't bother everybody, but it's just a personal bug of mine.
I can think for myself and I don't want to be told everything right away, but I also don't want to have to endure slow burn or cheap tease repeat. It's nice that the main guy and his wife have had their story move on a bit, but everthing still seems to crawl painfully slow, like it can't do character and concept at the same time and sort of alternates between the two each other episode. Autobloke in everything but name. |

I think I'd like to see more balls in the air with this show. If you're going to have a decently-sized cast then you need to make sure as many of them as possible are doing something interesting each episode that also pushes the story forwards.
Anyways, I'm not going to drag this thread down any more with my feelings about the pace of the show. Autobloke in everything but name. |
