Nothing like trotting out Akira and GITS comparisons to get the eyes rolling thougth. Certainly landmark classics of production and influence, but still grossly overhyped and only still a huge deal if you've not watched much else.
GITS is neither Oshii's best film or the best screen version of that franchise and Akira is pretty shakey if you try to objectively watch it as a movie rather then an exercise in spending a ton of money on animation. |

But beyond that it was a bore fest. It did have a plot or storyline , but it was so simple a 3 year old could follow it. It went nowhere whith what could have been an awesome story line kids that do not age? But it was a flop with good viusls that is all.

Oh, and yes this movie does try too hard to be what it isn't...with the whole philosophical angle and whatnot. The dogfights are cool, and the premise behind it was interesting, but the pacing was incredibly slow, and ultimately it did try to fill shoes that were far too big for it. | Much of this. ↑
Its an incredibly beautiful film to look at (especially in HD) but the pacing is absolutely leaden - and I like slow burners. Quote:

DISCLAIMER : I think that Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen is easily the worst film I have seen in about 10 years...
