    The First Omen: 8.5/10

It was pretty good! I need to watch the first movie again, it's been decades since I've seen it.

    Death Race (2006) - 8/10
This is the Jason Statham kinda sequel to the original. It's more like Twisted Metal then Corman's Death Race but has it's own charm and a great cast.

    Ex Machina - 8/10
    Annihilation - 8/10

Having already seen 28 Days Later and Sunshine, I figured I would stream those and it was worth it. :)  I'm gearing up to go see Civil War today, which I'm confident will be Alex Garland's directorial Opus Magnum

Edit: I saw Civil War a while ago and I was right. I am feeling that same sensation of brokenness that I felt when I first saw Infinity War. CW surpasses Oppenheimer in so many ways, and I adored Oppenheimer. 10 out of 10

"Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire" 8/10

Don't come in expecting another "Minus One", but this was very fun in a cartoon way. Also don't come in expecting a Godzilla film, this is very much a Kong film where Godzilla shows up at times.
The human characters and stories were done quickly and fun. Again, not as profound as the Minus One human stories, but they're likeable, quick to respond, don't dwell on a lot of padding writing, and serve to support the Kaiju stars of the film. Having a survivor from the type of civilizations that have been a part of Kong films since the 1930's adjusting to modern times is a novel idea worth exploring.
The new creatures designed for Hollow Earth are great and imaginative designs, personally I think a big step up from the American Titan designs from the past films. The Apes also benefit from having strong gestures and easy to read expressions, enough so that they could have carried more dialogue-less cene if more human scenes were cut.
Overall a great time that isn't asking to explore as the heavy concepts that Minus One did, and excels at it. Recommended.

Late Night With the Devil - 6/10

Man, I've been looking forward to this one for a while. I liked the idea of the premise and the actors did a great job. However, I found the execution lacking. Had they stayed with presenting it "found footage" style of the broadcast, that would've made it stronger, with a few segments of behind the scenes camera still rolling style it would've felt better. However, my main gripe is the climax. For what's built up as a this indy horror suddenly turns into VFX heavy sequence for no reason at all then to go into a weird psychodrama that doesn't connect with the setup very well, the last act felt like it let all the wind out of the sails and left an unsatisfying experience. They laid the groundwork to pull all these threads together that they laid down and then slightly tugged on one or two.

    Abigail -
I came into this with very low expectations, I was pleasantly surprised. A very well written story, superbly well acted.
Twists and turns throughout until the end. Not a horror movie in the traditional sense, I never felt "scared" like a conjuring film, but enough gore scenes to keep it interesting. The trailers dont do it justice. This might be a sleeper hit if word of mouth gets out.

    Easy 9/10

    Transformers Rise of the Beast

    3/10

Fucking dreadful, one of the single worst movies I’ve sat through in a while and I really didn’t like anything about it on the hero side save Optimus Primal…and maybe Arcee? I hated everything else aside from those two things.

Worst Prime of all time, would gladly take 07 Bay Prime over this fucking douche.

Terrorcons where shockingly fun, and I loved Nightbird

The Batman(2022) 7/10 it was mostly a good movie, and Jim Gordon still looked like himself despite the race swap. The end was kind of dumb, though, and Selina's mask looked really bad. Also, I have no clue how nobody figured out that Bruce was Batman, considering they acted exactly the bloody same and had his complete jawline exposed.

Dune Part 2 - easy 10/10, no notes. Movies like this and The Last Jedi are what cinemas are made for. Just pure transportation and awe. A total audiovisual treat with great performances and a tight script. Just wow.

    Wish
Was not my night to chose a movie so we picked Wish, which I really didn't pay much attention to when it was coming out. This one started out a little slow but then it exponentially got better and better. Ended up being really good. I have a new favorite Disney villain now! I have listened to his song (and most of them) several times since watching. The songs are pretty great, maybe not as "sing-a-long" catchy as others but still fun. Overall this was a pleasant surprise. Kind of regret not seeing this in theaters now...

Spider-man 2 (2004) re-release (Also 20th anniversary) 9/10. Seriously 20 yrs already? While this was nice to see on the big screen again, the nostalgia didn't hit me as hard as the first one. This film, while it improves over its predecessor in some areas, its over the top in some. I really feel now that him losing his powers could had been done away with. And what's with Doc Ock throwing a car to get Peter's attention? Didn't hit me the first time until now.

"Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part One" -7/10

Pretty much a Flash movie for the first 50 minutes, then becomes a Flash movie that happens to have a variation of the classic "Crisis on Infinite Earths" play out around it. Still, it's seems more enjoyable and has more heart than the last handful of DC animated movies, helped by this version of Barry Allen and Iris West being likeable. So far, heavily tied to the current shared universe, so don't go in expecting a full adaptation of the legendary superhero mega-event of the 1980's, but worth a casual watch.
