Does anyone know who is going to play these roles? I've heard some rumors. Some guy was saying either Will Smith of Channing Tatum for Cap, and Brad Pitt or that James Bond Guy for Thor. These sound stupid to me.

Chris Hemsworth from Star Trek will be playing Thor...but I haven't a clue who'll be Cap.

I think Chris Pine would make a good Cap.

Maybe as The Falcon, but Cap? No way they'd try and pull off a black Captain America.

Will Smith could play one of the guys they experimented on trying to recreate the formula.

Will Smith will ruin Captain America, but not because he's black.

Sigh. Rumors of Mark Valley being slated as too old for the role makes me sad. Anyone who's watched Keen Eddie knows that he just reeks of American Cool. He'd be perfect for the role. And he's served in the Army during the Gulf War too. Nothing a light make-up can't fix.

I don't mind them revamping heroes with a new race or gender to make it modern, I just hate it when they don't plan it well and do it just to get publicity. It's also usually better when it's a new character taking the role and not revamping years of history just to be trendy. It has to work with the story. When you do an established character, that comes with a certain set of expectations. They have developed and audience and there was a reason the character worked in the first place. The more you change about the character the less it works. Let's take Catwoman for example. When you take a character, change their origin story, costume and every thing about them, the audience has no reason to see the movie. An african american catwoman had been sucessfully done with eartha kitt. But one look at the promo images of Hallie Berrie (who was good as storm) in that horrible costume and most people decided not to see it. This is not my opinion, box office numbers and reviews bear this out. Also while it seems trendy if you do the opposite and make a black character white it wouldn't go over well. Imagine if they did a white shaft starring will ferril. I think a a movie theatre would burn down somewhere. Captain America has had a certain image for years, people have certain expectations. If they did a movie about Isiah Bradley that could work, but not Steve Rogers who the script has. Also they have a cartoon that is in production based off the planned movie and it has a white captain america. Since they wouldn't want to confuse kids that is more than likely what they will go with.
