DreamWorks to Make Live-Action Ghost in the Shell Movie in 3D | /Film Maybe Bob Zemeckis would be a decent director. He has the background alright. Thoughts?
If anyone in the West can pull this off, Spielberg can. I LOVED GITS, so I will be watching this one's progress closely.
Needs the direction of the movies, the writing of the TV series and the hot lesbo action of the comic.
I dont recognize any of those names for the producers and the screen writers. I was hoping Speilberg was going to be directly involved. Oh well, I hope it'll be good and not come off a cheesy copy of something already done. On a side note, is Section 9 a side branch of the police? I know there suppose to deal with cyber related crime but then they are deployed like military special forces. I have trouble figuring out at what they're suppose to do, aside from when the shit hits the fan, they respond.
The Public Security sections work for goverment departments, Section 9 does intelegence and paramilitary stuff for Home Affairs. Section 1 does criminal investigation, 4 is a military special forces unit and 6 does the dirty work for Foreign Affairs.
Are they all stationed in Japan? For some reason I thought Section 1 was stationed in the American Empire. Could be completely wrong for that.
We knew about this almost a year ago. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/movies-television/173338-ghost-shell-being-made-into-3-d-action-flim.html
They are all based in Japan, althougth 4 and 6 obviously do work in other countries. Section 1 probably don't do much elsewhere since they investigate crime for Home Affairs.
Robotech with Tobey Macguire Avatar Battle Angel GITS. either this is a fanboy filmgasm or these are the four horsemen of the Live-Action-Anime Apocalypse. *going to get my beads just in case it is the latter*
Steven Spielberg is doing this??? lol wow! Hes one of my favorite directors ever, but I just couldn't imagine him doing a film based on an anime. But, it'll be a good movie. Also it seems this is old news, but I haven't heard about it til now. Eh whatever.
Prediction: All American made anime adaptions will be shelved following Dragonball's failure. Although this would be cool to see, I doubt it will happen without AT LEAST being extremely dumbed down.
I am so excited about this! GITS is so cool. It's like a cross between A.I. and 24. Spielberg is my hero, but I just hope that he doesn't pass it off to Michael Bay. And as much as I love John Williams' work, I want Yoko Onno to come back for the score.
