2002 He-Man and the Masters of the Universe disc problem.

I have been a He-Man fan since I was a kid and when Mattel and Cartoon Network created a new series in 2002 I was excited to see it. It was a great new take on He-Man but sadly it ended before it's time for a number of reasons. When I learned that the series was coming out on DVD I knew I had to have it so yesterday I bought the first of three volumes at Target. The Target release has an exclusive DVD of the first three episodes as a movie as it appeared on Cartoon Network which has some corrected scenes that the three individual episodes do not have. I watched the movie DVD last night but didn't watch any more. Today I wanted to watch a few more episodes but when to He-Man.org first. That brings me to the topic of the thread.

While I was at He-Man.org I ran across a post on the front page about a problem with the first disc. I appears that in Episode 4, The Courage of Adam, that a scene is missing that shows Adam escape from the dungeon in Snake Mountain. Here is what He-Man.org says you can do about the problem.

Quote:
BCI Guy has passed along some official information with regards to the February 13 news entry, about the replacement discs for the Volume 1 MOTU DVD set:

"The replacement disc for Mattel's He Man Volume 1, Disc One can be ordered by either sending an email to HeManDisc@gmail.com or calling 866-641-3472. Please include your name, your address, a daytime telephone number and the store name and location where you purchased your DVD.
I hope this can help anyone that has bought the disc but may not have watched episode 4 or didn't know what to do about the problem.

I got it and returned it once. Will try to return it at the other Target in the area..

Yeah the disk freezes right as Cringer is being chased by the doom seeker when he is disguised as Panthor. Then it skips to the Masters coming out of the cave and them getting attacked by the bone creature.

Has anyone e-mailed about the disc and got a response? I e-mailed them Sunday and have yet to get an e-mail back from them saying they will ship one out.

They've probably got a lot of emails to sort through. The same thing happened with the big Superman box set. Once I finally called them, it took them the better part of two months to send me the replacement discs.

From what I understand all volume 1 sets released have this problem. If I remember what I read on He-Man.org right it was something that the people reviewing the DVD before release missed so when they went into production all of them had this problem. I think the same article said something about a bonus item being shipped with the replacement DVD to make up for the problem.

Yeah, I sent an e-mail on Sunday, as well. I've never done one of these replacement disc things, so I have no clue how long it will take for them to send it to me.

This happened with one of the original series box sets on a couple of disks. I emailed them and eventually did get the replacement disks in the mail rather quickly, considering something like that would seemingly take a long time to fix. BCI did a good job with that then and hopefully will do the same now.
