Yeah Gluttony is the only one that real fits appearance wise. Hopefully they at least can all look the part in the final cut. I wonder if FUNimation will make a dub of the live-action movie?
I dunno. I saw one live action film once and all they did was wear wigs. Maybe I should check out more to see if others actually tried to look like the character.
I'm going to reserve judgement on this till I see a trailer, but, as a huge fan of Brotherhood I hope this does well.
I hope they do. FMA2003 was one of the only dubs from FUNimation that I enjoy. How are they going to make Scar work? They CANNOT have a Japanese Actor portray him.
Well, in Attack on Titan Mikasa was supposed to be one of the few Asian people left on the planet...yeaaaaaaah.
They'll probably have some Okinawan actor or darker skinned Japanese guy to play Scar and/or other Ishvalans.
What? No, you need to be more specific. The Japanese are better at adapting media into television shows. Americans are better at adapting media into films. Wolverine's shorter and Hugh Jackman is 6'2". Yeah, I'm fine with not having one running gag. Hope it's good, don't care if it's not. This might be my second favourite manga but really bad adaptions of things I feel nostalgic for don't affect me. No idea how this happened to me but I'm glad it is this way.
Um, so where are the white actors? All I see are Asian ones. Ling, his servants, and Mei-Chan are the only ones who are supposed to be Asian.
Don't you dare start that here! All you need to do is understand is that American film budgets and Japanese film budgets differ drastically.
Why not? If we can have 20 pages spent on Gods of Egypt being whitewashed, why shouldn't we do the same with a movie that is Asian washed? Why is one okay but not the other?
idk if that is exactly an excuse. seeing that the Korean film, Snowpiercer, could afford Chris Evans, DURING his filming of the avengers movies. and last week, I just saw the Nice Guys, a movie with one of the main actors, last seen in "these final hours." an australian movie. and that kid is only 13. and they managed to get a 13 year old from Australia, all the way to Hollywood. there is no excuse these days. whether you are a japanese film company, or an american film company. not if a Korean film company can do it.
Don't forget Hong Kong Cinema. The most recent Jackie Chan movie I saw was "Dragon Blade." Even though it wasn't one of his best in my opinion, they still sought out John Cusak and Adrien Brody to play Roman characters. I remember seeing in the bonus features that about 12 different languages were spoken in the movie? Or something ridiculous like that.
Godzilla Final Wars had a multinational cast with an American playing a lead role with some extras here and there so why not do more here?
Well if I were a betting man, I'd say the two most likely reasons are insufficient bankroll or little interest from Europe. Or they simply didn't give a fuck and rightly assumed no one outside the enthusiast press would care and didn't bother to try.
The American playing a lead role in Final Wars was a scenery-chewing ham who probably cost $2 to hire. Don't get me wrong, the guy was hilarious and probably my favorite non-Kaiju part of the movie. But he is a nobody. People have to remember how small Japanese movie budgets are compared to Hollywood. And the talent pool in Japan of non-Japanese people who can act even halfway decently in Japanese is about 12 people (and I'm being generous. Really, I only ever see one actress who can do it, and we see her over and over). The talent pool of Japanese people who can act well in English numbers in at least the tens of thousands. Any other demographic you care to name, American Indians, Indian Indians, Chinese, Koreans, Africans, what have you... there is no shortage of people who speak English and can act in English. But that's not true the other way around. I know people in Japan who were pissed as hell that the cast of Attack on Titan was all Japanese, because that's not true to the comic. And it is unfortunate. But realistically, I don't know what option they would have had.
I'm not going to get into this argument just want to correct a small fact here was that Chris Evans wasn't filming the Avengers while filming Snowpiercer, the only scene he filmed for Avengers while filming Snowpiercer was the last minute end credits scene at the Shwarma place (it's why Chris Evans has his hand on his jaw the whole time because he was sporting a full beard at the time) This last minute scene was Marvel/Disney's idea and THEY were the ones to pay for Chris Evans to come to them not the other way around. So Snowpiercer didn't afford Chris Evans during his filming of Avengers at all if Marvel was the one to pay for his travel to film the last minute scene. They filmed that scene like a week or two before Avengers released, WHICH Chris Evans was already taking a break from Snowpiercer (while they filmed non Chris Evans parts/stunts etc.) because Evans was doing the international press tour for Avengers. See what I mean?
I wouldn't exactly say "had". It was more like they couldn't find any less talented asshats to play the roles. Thay had no choice but to go multi-national and still only was able to pick from the creme de la crap. That movie was terri-bad. So bad, I am surprised we haven't see a "Hitler reacts to Godzilla: Final Wars" spoof tearing it appart
