Needless blue lights aside, I heartedly dig this redesign. Sleak and updated, but enough chunk and angles to look a bit like a classic mecha. Am I the only one that would one day like to see Voltron with actual hands, though? Like maybe the lion heads are knuckle guards or gauntlets, but it has actual fingers?
There's always the vehicle team version Voltron Force was hit-or-miss (mostly hit early on, mostly miss near the end) but it was far better than Third Dimension. I have mixed feelings about it in relation to the new reboot, since everything good it set up for the aborted second season will never happen now. On the other hand, the reboot means that the new series isn't burdened with any of the groan-worthy aspects of the previous show. But overall I'm excited. This is basically guaranteed to be better than Voltron Force.

Oh I see. I haven't been paying attention, because I missed the fact that there had been two revivals (Force and Third Dimension). oops. Anyway, with this on Netflix, at least I'll know where to find it.
i don't remember the third dimension being too bad. i haven't seen it since the 90's though. i liked the stealth voltron.
I watched it while it was available on Netflix a couple years back. It was just painfully boring most of the time. The Dracotron and Stealth Voltron designs were pretty cool though. I assume the latter influenced the Voltron Force designs.
It's cool as some elements of Voltron Force Voltron and the original while it's been drawn like in the style of Transformers RID. But that's my honest opinion.
I agree with you too. I dig the design overall...like an updated look to a classic car, while still referencing it. Also, I do as well. I realize the lion head hands are classic, but I'd like actual hands sometime, with the lions as like gauntlets.
My fiancée loves Voltron, but hated the Nickelodeon version with the fury of a thousand suns. Hopefully this one will be more to her liking.
