This is going to be a big year for comic-book properties, and since people can’t help but pick a side, and trash the opposition…
    Welcome to the Argument-Arena

    The Ground Rules:
    • Trash the movies/shows, not each other – this is not a place to insult the fans of the franchise you hate. Feel free to counter others' arguments, but don’t make it personal.
    • While you’re welcome to trash the studio/writer/director/actor of whatever movie, using derogatory terms like “******ed,” clearly crosses the line and will not be accepted. Use your head – there are plenty of ways dump on something without going overboard.
    • Valid critiques are still welcome in the threads about the specific movies/shows, but this is the home for the pure trash-talk.
    • Beyond that, all of the usual TFW rules still apply: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/tfw2005-tech-support/631403-tfw2005-rules.html
    • If you can't follow these simple rules, you will be removed from the thread.
So, who wants to get us started?

This is actually a really good idea. Fair play

I think Marvel definitely still has much more of my attention this year than DC. I liked Man of Steel, though it was far from perfect (I wasn't a fan of the massive levels of destruction, which unfortunately seems to be continuing in DOJ), and I'm interested to see Affleck as Batman, but man, the most recent Dawn of Justice trailer just seemed to give too much away. I feel like I've seen a lot of the film alread
I generally prefer Marvel to DC by a landslide, but that's not to say I want to see the DCCU flop. But I don't think it'll get off to a great start. It feels like Dawn of Justice is trying to shoe-horn in too much at once to try and catch up with Marvel. I also don't really understand their desire to separate their TV and Film universes. I would have thought that following Marvel's path - expanding the film universe further with TV shows about smaller tier heroes and teams - would have been the smarter way to go

I will say however, I'm looking forward to Suicide Squad. That looks really good. And I hope we get some kind of Under the Red Hood live action movie out of this new cinematic universe

I prefer what Civil War is doing in splitting up two friends because of something they genuinely believe in while Batman V. Superman just seems like a conflict based on a misunderstanding. I also think Suicide Squad looks like it's trying too hard to be edgy.

Being more DC oriented, I'm definitely looking forward to their two films this year (and upcoming DCEU, for that matter). Of course, SS still irritates me with its costuming choices but nonetheless I'm ready for it.

Marvel's projects have me excited and interested too, I guess. To be honest, AoU shattered all of my interest in the MCU... I just don't care anymore like I used to. Netflix MCU is so on point and the movies are going to hell.

Deadpool and Apocalypse look great though. Deadpool looks incredibly faithful to the comics and everything looks brilliant.

    Thanks for kicking this off...

If not for Captain America: Civil War, Marvel would not have my attention at all this year...

Ugh, I am so happy that WB is keeping the movie stuff far away from the CW garbage. I mean, look at this nerd:

That's supposed to be the Atom? Looks like one of Tony Stark's suits had a love affair with NFL SuperPro:

If they can get Matt Ryan to become the eventual movie-version of Constantine, then great, but no thanks to any of the CW mess...

I'm on board for Civil War because it's still a Captain America movie, which is where Marvel Studios really shines. Batman v Superman, though, is just that.

Yeah, same. 2016 is going to be a crazy year for comicbook movies, across the board.

The Avengers movies kind of suck. I find it funny when people were complaining that Civil War is Avengers 2.5, or whatever, when it will likely end up being better than the actual Avengers movies...

Deadpool is about to have one of the most screen-accurate comic costumes ever, and Marvel can't get Hemsworth to keep his damn Thor helmet on...

I watched Ant Man last night and it suuuuucked. But I think the worst part, IMO, is that they're delaying Black Panther and Ms. Marvel for the sequel to...this. They're delaying two movies with an African lead and a female lead, for another movie with a white guy lead. And yeah it has Wasp, but that's still not the same thing.

As I recall, Ms Marvel comes out in 2018. 11 years after the first MCU movie. It took them 11 YEARS to make a movie without a white guy as the lead.

In contrast, the DCCU started in 2012, and we're getting a solo female lead film in 2017. Not only is it taking half as long, but they started later and are actually GETTING IT OUT BEFORE Marvel.

Meanwhile, at the Legion of Doom...

And that's different than any of the Marvel movies, how?

It's an action movie... I certainly hope there's more fighting than what is seen in the trailer...

Out of the blockbuster franchise "war" movies this year, I'm looking to Rogue One more than Civil War and Dawn of Justice.

Look at who's trying way too hard to be the Guardians of the Galaxy...

I might agree with that, in time, but right now we don't really have much besides one cast photo and a few behind the scenes pics, for Rogue One.

Maybe, but I'm more excited for Legends of Tomorrow than either of the DC movies this year.

Rogue One is also my most anticipated movie of the year.

I still think the Suicide Squad still looks like a bunch of people rejected from a Disturbed music video.

I might as well add some DC love since I can be so hard on them (it is all out of love though; just don't screw up Green Lantern again). Out of the two major female superhero shows, I actually prefer Supergirl over Jessica Jones. Jessica Jones was really good, but it also had some really bad characters. The villain was the best part about it. Supergirl is more fun, and it reminds me a lot of the Richard Donner Superman movies. Not really trash talk since I enjoy both, but I might as well throw that out there.

Yeah DC's TV is way better than you're giving it credit for. CW has been doing great with Flash and Arrow, and it's going to great with Legends as well. It's not like the movies are doing anything right. Suicide Squad looks like its going to be the next Fantastic Four. Hoping BVS will does well, but not holding my breath.

I think by summer I'm going to be sick of comic book movies/shows. It's overload this year.

That's cool. You can have "CW's Leftovers of DC Comics," I'll take the movie with Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Thanks.

I don't know what that means, but these CW costumes look like shit too, so...

:lol  we're on different worlds, friend.

The upcoming movies of that I am the most excited are the Marvel (MCU or otherwise) especially given their very positive track record thus far, last year's Fantastic Four from Fox nonwithstanding. I don't find the films of DC all that appealing unfortunately. I have yet to watch the DC TV shows Arrow and Flash but those will eventually be remedied. As for Star Wars: Rogue One, due to personal reasons, this film means absolutely nothing to me. Same goes with the Rebels series and the sequel film trilogy as well. I really was going to give the latter two a fair chance albeit in a much later date but now....well, thanks to a certain factor that shall now be nameless, it's pretty much lost forever. So yeah, fuck them. There, I said it.
