Report: BATMOBILE Designer GEORGE BARRIS Passes Away | Newsarama.com While Barris was best known as the designer of the '66 Batmobile, he designed many classic television and film automobiles, including Green Hornet's Black Beauty from the '60's TV show, the Munsters' Koach, the jalopy from Beverly Hillbillies, and K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider.
RIP. I have always been a huge fan of his even before I knew who he was. If a cool car was in a TV show, I was more likely to watch it as a kid. Many of the cars he created became their own characters and spawned huge followings of people who want cars just like the iconic ones he created. I would do anything to get a General Lee.
May his soul rest in peace. I never knew he worked on KNIGHT RIDER, that Pontiac was one of the sexiest cars ever.
I actually don't think that's true at all, but it is a helluva car. He designed a lot of great cars. Rest in piece, George Barris.
Wow! I love all those cars, had no idea they were all designed by the same person. Sad news, he truly was talented!

Late to respond, but my thoughts go to his family and friends. to the man who has made plenty of TV cars memorable. Especialy for they were the 1966 Batmobile and KITT.
