Actor Dean Jones - best known for his lead roles as James Jim Douglas, Herbie's race car driver in "The Love Bug" and "Herbie goes to Montecarlo" - has died in L.A. at the age of 84 of Parkinson's disease. Beside his roles in two of the Herbie films, Dean played the lead roles of Wilby Daniels in The Shaggy Dog DA and the evil veterinarian Dr. Herman Varnick in Beethoven, among many roles in Disney films and 5 Broadway shows. With Deans death, this marks Michele Lee who played the role of Carole Bennett in the Love Bug (Dean's love interest) as the sole survivor of the Love Bug's main cast. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP Mr. Jones, and thank you for sharing your time with us. https://www.yahoo.com/movies/dean-j...-84-128208116312.html?soc_src=mail&soc_trk=ma
The Love Bug Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo Short Lived Herbie Television Series The Shaggy DA Blackbeard's Ghost Monkies Go Home Million Dollar Duck The Horse in the Grey Flannel Suit The Ugly Dachshund The Love Bug re-make with Bruce Campbell And I'm sure many, many more. Mister Jones has lead a very impressive life, with many great roles. He will be sorely missed, though he did live to a wonderful age and I'm glad that he no longer is suffering with Parkinson. R.I.P and condolences to the family.
RIP. Don't really remember the Herbie films but I saw them as a kid and I think I enjoyed them. Even if I didn't, my mother is a fan of them.
I honestly did not know who he was until I just saw this picture. I had no idea he was the bad guy in the first Beethoven movie that ends up getting all those needles right in the chest at the same time.
Oh god... I had no idea he was the vet in Beethoven... nor did I know he was the owner of the Shaggy Dog. Geezus... too many good people are going...
