https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gods_of_Egypt_(film) Gerard Butler (Leonidas) is Set, the God of storms and chaos. Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) as Thoth, the God of wisdom. Geoffrey Rush (Tomar-Re) is Ra, the God of the sun. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) as Horus, the God of the sky. Élodie Yung (Jinx) is Hathor, the Goddess of love, beauty and music. And it's to be directed by Alex Proyas (THE CROW). No trailer yet, but this will be insane and awesome. When was the last time we saw Egyptian gods? Oh yeah: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxyOTFQFWQ0
I love ancient mythologies, so I'm going to keep an eye on this. You don't see Egyptian mythology represented much. I think it has a lot of potential to be unique and really cool. I loved the book series The Kane Chronicles which puts a modern spin on Egyptian mythology too.
Yes, with a bit of ALADDIN and PRINCE OF PERSIA thrown in. But it's rather early to tell. It's still filming I think. But still, the concept sounds fascinating enough to provoke interest.
Hope they do a better job with this one, the Exodus movie had some star power too, but it was a snoozer. Love Egyptology and all the history/mythology...the god/goddesses, etc., would like to see this do a good job & tell a great tale....
Horus isn't the god of the sky. He's the god of the sun, war, and kingship. The Pharaoh's were considered Horus reborn, and shall be Osiris in the after life.
Found some images from filming: Horus Set Hathor Not sure who these are. I was hoping they'd have some animal heads, as they were depicted. But this is just practical stuff, I think they'll add in CGI in post-production.
I think it looks pretty good. I never realized how much Nikolaj Coster-Waldau looked like Kurt Russell until I saw that picture.
Actually, we don't know for sure what the skin color of Ancient Egyptians mostly was. It's been a subject of debate for years. Plus, Egypt was also a very racially diverse place at the time.
Depending on how you define white, totally. People from North Africa don't look much different than southern Europeans.
