I love almost everything Star Trek, but The Next Generation series finale, All Good Things, is my favorite piece of television history. I would trade everything I own just to be the janitor on the Enterprise from the future.

Well, I really liked Tos, but I agree that Enterprise is most boring

I was all by myself downtown and I had a few hours to kill before catching a train to somewhere else. Star Trek was the only movie that was starting right when I got there, so I watched it. (On a fun side note - it was kinda embarrassing being all by myself and telling the ticket girl that I wanted to see Star Trek, lol)

I guess I thought the movie was cool, so I decided to give Star Trek TOS a try and omg I loved it. I never actually finished the series. I'm about a third through season three, but I love it to death. It had really fun characters and it always had me excited for which wacky situation I was going to find these guys in. Here's an example of the fun characters: Captain Kirk and Spock being butt buddies. Butt buddies amuse me to no end, and lots of great shows have them. For instance:

    Beast Wars: Rattrap and Dinobot
The Wire: Herc and Carver or Bodie and Poot

In fact I'm kind of annoyed now at what they did to Kirky in the movie.

yeah, the movie was kick-ass :)  As for the original TOS , I remembered that even my grandmother watch it when she was younger, so later I watched all seasons and it totally rocks. As for buying tickets I have that problem too when Im alone, because the ticket seller always look at me weirdo look. Especially when I was buying ticket for Tf: Rotf....
Ahem... But anyways, there would always be butt buddies in every show and every movie, but what I really love the most on Star trek is beutifull imagination of storyline and difference of alien races :)

I cannot believe it hasn't been mentioned yet, but Wesley Crusher is the greatest Star Trek character ever conceived. Whilst the other members of the Enterprise crew remained static cardboard-cutouts, Wesley grew and learned about what it really means to be a Starfleet officer. His tremendous portrayal was what saved The Next Generation, and the brief time where he left to enroll in Starfleet was one of the weakest time-spans in the show's life. Without Wesley's charming presence, Star Trek just felt like it was missing an integral part of its success. I love you Wesley Crusher.

wow, i totally hated Wesley. I always thought data was the Wolverine of the show. Worf is my fave by far. He got the least attention, but he's okay with it. There is no honor in being a spotlight-whore.

While he might not've been the centre of things like Picard, etc, he was not only a main character on multiple Treks shows, but also the window to the entire Klingon race. Also, the later episodes of Deep Space Nine used him rather well, and I also think the fact that he wasn't a spotlight whore as you put it worked in line with who he was anyway.

Also, scrap the haters. Archer & Janeway were awesome.

I did and I thought Shatner was an ass to Kate Mulgrew. He's probably threatened because she's such a better actor than he is. :D

I've bounced back & fourth quite a bit with Voyager & DS9, and I also enjoyed Enterprise very much (especially the 2nd season & onward). The Original has it's place, and TNG is easily the most iconic one of our generation.

... however when I add everything up, DS9 was hands down the best show in my opinion because it offered so much in it's short time, be it just in one episode, or even it's entire run. I'd even go as far as to say that many movies don't hold as much as a broken Batleth to a given episode, and that's speaking in terms of pretty much every aspect of it's work.

Next Generation, even though I've watched probably a total of 7 ST episodes total.

    Picard > Kirk.

Well, if you enjoyed watching 7 episodes, then you've got a pretty good chance of liking the rest of it, along with the other shows. In other words, you're hardly in short supply of trek material, and it'll only get better once you get consumed by the universe.

That's how it was for me, anyway. :)

I couldnt agree more.Even when DS9 borrowed story ideas they found a way to improve on them.

Let me rephrase my statement. I have seen the entire original series, because my dad is a huge Star Trek fan, but only seven episodes of TGS. I do like Patrick Stewart, and I can't stand Shatner. I'm just not a hige Star Trek fan. I found it boring.

DS9 was my favorite hands down.Loved seeing a show that was not Federation heavy and dealt with many different species.

Voyager is still my number 2 choice.

Enterprise was last.Loved the idea but some of the characters and story lines just killed it for me.

My favourite is the Original Series with Bones being my favourite character with Scotty being me second favourite. DS9 is at the number two spot with TNG at number three though I think the first two series of TNG were over all quite bad. The animated series comes at number four, I feel it a bit under appreciated and should get some recognition. Then finally Voyager and Enterprise which I think were bad though Voyager at least had some good characters like the Doctor and Seven of Nine.

    Also, Kirk beats Picard!

im about midway through season 2 of Enterprise and i'm totally lovin this show

there's some throwaway eps here and there but all in all this is top notch IMO!

just watched the episode dealing with T'pol and the Vulcans stance on mind melds. Very interesting to see that the Vulcans did not like that! My exposure to vulcans before had made it seem acceptable so its interesting to see that it wasnt always!

    awesome

    yay netflix!
