Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington Team for '''Magnificent Seven''' Remake Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington Team for 'Magnificent S | Thompson on Hollywood Also starring Chris Pratt and Haley Bennett. But Denzel and Hawke give me hope in this being good. Whatever changes they have to make to one of the greatest Westerns of all time, they have to keep the theme track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iteRKvRKFA Here's hoping this will be awesome.
Remake it may be, but The Magnificent Seven is a genuinely excellent movie and Akira Kurosawa himself was so impressed he presented John Sturgess (the director) with an antique katana to show his appreciation. Plus y'know, Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen, Robert Vaughn, Charles Bronsen, Donald Sutherland and Eli Wallach totally kicked ass in their roles.
i'm a big fan of the franchise, ive seen the original, the western, and even the anime adaption i just don't want it to be remade again
Interesting cast to say the least but ugh with the remakes. Why not just have a new movie altogether?
Interesting that of the Seven actors who played the seven cowboys in the magnificent seven only one is still alive and that is Robert Vaughn. As for the remake it's hard fr me to get excited for a remake as Hollywood has a horrible record with them.
Because tunnel vision turbo-nerds who LOVED Guardians of the Galaxy immediately equate his mediocre performance to also being "brilliant", so they demand it now. That, and they've been in desperate need for another Nathan Fillion geek demigod, so Pratt apparently got the job.
lol yea. hollywood sure does love to ride those hypetrains. didn't think guardians was all that great of a film. personally, i liked cap 2 more. put Chris Evans in more movies. he's great.
i've liked Chris Evans since i saw his amazing performance in Push. didn't like him too much in fantastic four. but that's hardly his fault. both movies were terrible. but idk, maybe he will be good in this. maybe he will be horrible. i am betting more so, just as bland as he was in guardians.
Oh man. I'm so on the fence about this...I love the original M7, and the potential for Hollyweird to just blow it is daunting. On the other hand, I have to admit, how many westerns do we get these days? And the remake of True Grit with Jeff Bridges was pretty good.
Vincent D’Onofrio Eyed to Play Villain in ‘Magnificent Seven’ Remake (Exclusive) Edgar the Bug as Calvera? Nice.
Edgar the Bug and our new Kingpin. Vincent is an awesome actor...I'm glad he's been getting some major work as of late.
No matter how bad he was in FF, he was also the BEST thing about those movies. My problem with Westerns now is that they lack "fun". They try to be too serious and too gritty. 3:10 to Yuma wasn't too bad, but it had some levity in the interaction between the criminal/bounty hunter aspect. I honestly still prefer the original True Grit to the new one, in almost every way. I'll take Wayne's sexist, offensive, discriminatory banter any day of the week over Django Unchained, which I kind of found almost unwatchable. It had it's moments, but it wasn't anything I'd ever buy or watch again. I feel like I already know this movie is going to be something good, but not something I'll really like.
well i don't think Django unchained was taking itself seriously at all. it was mostly an action comedy. but i do not take it as a serious sequel/remake to the Django movies. more like just a movie homage. however, i do agree that the remake of true grit, is very much lacking in the personalities that the original had. sure it has better acting, and effects, but Rooster was far more likable being played by John Wayne. Wayne is a hard person to out charm. he also can play a better drunk then Bridges. i have a feeling though this will be just like true grit, with all the life, and fun sucked out of it. in my opinion, the best "modern" western to come out in the entire decade was Cowboys VS Aliens. now that is a western. it didn't take itself too seriously, yet also took itself seriously enough. the characters were all likable. and you get the feeling that it is a movie western, that is just interrupted by aliens attacking. and it is pretty cool. it is like movies these days have forgotten that they used to be about being fun. westerns used to be fun. they used to not be about realism. or gritty, no one cared about that. we just wanted a fun time. it is very rare that a modern western, a western made after 1990, is actually good. to be honest. it seems as if it is a lost art.
Considering the Magnificent Seven was a remake of Seven Samurai wouldn't this make it a remake of a remake? Although the original Magnificent Seven does prove that you can do a really great remake set in a different place and time if you have the right sort of talent on the production team. I just wonder if a Western is the best idea? Hollywood has tried to revive the Western theme and it just hasn't been a great money maker. It just seems like maybe take the Seven Samurai concept and put it into a new setting.
