As much as I loved the show. I think Hollywood should try to create new and original ideas rather than reinvent the wheel. I wouldn't want an actual reboot, but I'd be down for what's being suggested here as long as its good.
It would be better with new agents getting put in charge of the x-files(probably as a demotion) and Mulder and Scully being more in the shadows advising the newbies.
If it involves Mulder and Scully, its a "soft" re-boot. I hope it would be an "expansion" of the X-files, ie you have multiple teams investigating different X-files. No Anna Beth Gish please! Would welcome Robert Patrick back and Mitch Pelegi. Trust No One
So if they are going to continue it would the colonization have happened already when the new series starts?
I think they'll attempt to write a back story that colonization was averted (For a time ) were the different alien "races" went to war with each other - Super Soldiers, Bounty Hunters, the "Greys", and I'm thinking I'm missing at least 1 other race.
Interesting. I was a big X-Files fan back in its heyday (before it started jumping sharks left and right). Will give the new show a chance if it does happen but I remain skeptical (as Scully is wont to do).
I don't personally think that the X-Files fully jumped the shark until the last episode, but elements of it certainly hopped back and forth. That's what they should have done in the last couple of seasons IMO. I was so annoyed that the Alien Rebels, Krycek and Marita taking out CSM, the genetic immunity to Black Oil and so on were all completely ditched for the Super Soldiers and Scully Baby plots.

Well, if they do it, they better bring back Mark Snow as the show's music composer. His tracks definitely helped with the X-File's creepy atmosphere.

I seriously cannot wait for this. I think I'm the only person who actually enjoyed the final episode.. Maybe I was just glad that mulder was back for it. 6 episodes sounds perfect. A few "monster of the week" episodes and a few mythology episodes is a good idea. I really wanted to like the most recent movie, but it just wasn't x-files enough. Hopefully these episodes will be. I must've watched this series on DVD like 10 times.
