Admit it: like Gotham, it would be one giant ----tease that probably wouldn't even get to the end. We'd probably start by exploring the younger years of Jor-El, how he was a young genius scientist who befriended Zod, until schoolyard politics separated them, hardening Zod into the psychopath that Shannon became ("I WILL FIND HIM!!!"). Or, it'd be a story where Krpyton's stupid political system would just veto everything, because they can't think outside of the box.
David Goyer Creating Krypton TV Show For Syfy - Respectfully, We Informed You Of This Event At A Previous Juncture - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movie, TV News
The plot sounds interesting, so I'll give it a chance. I have a bad feeling that this will essentially be Caprica 2.0. Set in a universe that has great potential, but centering around characters and a setting that most people aren't really interested in. Question is, will this be another piece of SyFy garbage, or a return of SyFy masterpieces? So, when is TBS getting their own live-action DC show?
SyFy in investing in more new Syfy shows and tv series lately. Syfy plans to lure you back with these 5 shows | Inside TV | EW.com Rumor is they are trying to return to their roots. Don't know about TBS, but TNT is getting a live action Teen Titans.
It's good to know that they're trying to make a return to their roots. I'll try and remain optimistic. It's not a big deal, but a return to their old name would be nice. I was more joking. With eight DC shows on/in the works for six different stations, it's just a matter of time till TBS jumps on the bandwagon... right? Though honestly, I have no idea what, if any, potential DC show would actually work on TBS.
I think this could be a really promising show. It definitely has more of a backstory to tell than Gotham, so I think it will be better than that at least.
Eh i find it hard to care about a show where the world will blow up in 40-70 years with only a handful of survivors. With 2 of the big 3 having prequels where is my Hippolyta show set from ancient Greece to WW2 that is a show i could get into I'd even accept a none Flarrow/Supergirl verse version.
ANOTHER prequel show? I don't know what direction they'll go with: - the STAS cartoon angle where everyone trusts Brainiac except Jor-El, and then he turns on them - the MOS angle where Krypton is a decadent world, which is plunged into civil war - the John Bryne angle where Krypton is a cold sterile Vulcan-esque world - the 1978/early comics angle where Jor-El discovers Krypton is going to blow, but nobody believes him ... This does have potential. But can it pull it off? Here's hoping it can.
That actually makes some sense because the beginning of Man of Steel felt like the ending of another movie because it seemed like there was a lot of interesting backstory behind the events we saw on Krypton. Plus, it seemed to pull heavily from the Last Days of Krypton by Kenneth J. Anderson; which is a great book by the way and has pretty much become my preferred version of the Krypton backstory.
Interesting to see. I hope they cover life on Krypton before the cataclysm that destroyed their world well. Hell I hope they cover decades before that happens. Cause the story is about Krypton, not Jor-El(?)
The thing about this, is that it could be a good series; like all great sci-fi, it can be a mirror; this technology super advanced people can't see that they've damaged their own world beyond the point of repair and have doomed themselves. But it won't. It will be a mediocre series filled with way too many "future Superman references" that think they'll be clever, vapid soap opera storylines and it'll make everyone wonder when the planet will blow up and end the series for good. Based on everything I see, the trends, that's what I'm predicting.
