And lets face it; whenever your pick doesn't win, it's rigged.

Only times the Bayfilms were really contenders for Oscars were for VFX, mostly for TF1 and DOTM. Both films had far superior effects than their opponents (Golden Compass and Hugo)... But I would've given the 2011 VFX Oscar to Rise of the Planet of the Apes. So really TF1 is the one that really deserved it, but, aw well.

The only thing I know about it is it has Michael Keaton in it and the poster has the original Birdman cartoon on it. I never liked Birdman when I was a kid, so I haven't bothered to look at anything dealing with this movie. Of course, none of my theaters have even shown a trailer for it either, so that helps.

Who is J Law? Is that some new name for J Lo?

Stands for Jennifer Lawrence. She's the actress that played as Mystique in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past as well as Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games films.

The "Birdman" in this movie is fictional so you are way off I believe
and being as that you yourself say that you know nothing about this movie how can you tell if it is good or not

Not sure if you are joking about J Law or not but Jennifer Lawrence

Or you could actually Google it to gain some semblance of knowledge on it before posting ignorant ideas about it. Just a thought.

Whelp it was a nice run Kain but you finally managed to hit the ignore list good for you.

Yes, I know who Jennifer Lawrence is. Where did this J Law come from?

Because I hated Birdman when growing up.

    So I was just told.

Or I could continue to just not give a crap since I'm not going to go see it anyway.

    Okay, peace out. :rock

lol at Robocop and AoE being good movies.

We are talking about the Oscars, not the Razzies.

You know who desrves a nomination for supporting actor? Willem Defoe for his role in Grand Budapest Hotel.

    Holy fuck you're serious.

What the hell is the RoboCop remake doing there? That film was abysmal and did terrible business.

Don't laugh. I love those movies and they DESERVE the recognition!!!

As serious as a heart attack.

I wanted to see the New RoboCop since I saw the trailers on YouTube. I even skipped seeing The LEGO Movie to see RoboCop is how badly I wanted to see it!

When it comes to movies I love, I will defend them to the death, THAT'S how much I care about them.

    Believe me, I KNOW MOVIES!!!!!!

Okay, I enjoyed a fair number of those movies, but outside of Captain America 2 and maybe Days of Future Past, none of them are Oscar worthy. Why? Because they only excell as superhero/action movies, not as movies in general. AoE has stunning effects and is enjoyable, but is nowhere near Best Picture status. And Michael Bay for best director? Holy crap. His direction is terrible. Granted, that is my opinion, but I just can't take this seriously.

A blockbuster is not something the Academy usually goes for because most of the time, they don't do anything spectacular as far as movies in general go. Sure, they're widely enjoyed and they entertain, but that's not what the Oscars is about. It's about films that push the envelope, that make you think and re-evaluate how you watch a film. The Academy wants something deep, not something you sit and watch while mindlessly stuffing popcorn down your throat. That's how it'll be for a long, LONG time.

You do realize you can't nominate things from one movie more than once for any one given award, right?

Because his understanding of the awards is obviously better than ours.

Plus that rule is stupid we should be able to nominate Transformers as many times as went want because of the cinematic masterpiece it is. It's like the Citizen Kane of shit tier films, it should be nominated to the same degree.

and you can nominate two things from the same movie for the same award by the way it's happened multiple times. Let's see uh The Help had two best supporting actress nominations Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer (who won), there have been several more that's just the ones that came off the top of my head

Anna Paquin gets a nod for 5 seconds and no lines LOL

and voice actors aren't eligible for academy awards, but you know movies, lol

I enjoy the Oscars, but it seems like the winners and nominees are always decided before they're even released. There has been nothing but Oscar buzz for Interstellar, and hardly anyone has actually seen it
