Pretty sure his chiseled, hard-bodied, Fight Club-physique will dissuade you of that notion in due time.

Gotten to the point where I'm not even excited for this anymore. The embarrassment that is BVS really has soured me on any future DC films.

So one movie by one director kills you're interest in a different movie by a different director? That makes no sense! It would be one thing if both movies were directed by the same guy, but there not, so why not give the movie a chance unless you just wanted a flimsy reason not to see it

I am giving it a chance sure, but my motivations for not really being excited for it do indeed make sense, especially considering its just my opinion and how I feel. Sure its stand alone, but it still is a part of this cinematic universe DC is attempting. The villain movie that looks like it may be a bit of fun, which is rare for DC movies these days, is definitely interesting and different. But after mildly liking Man of steel and being greatly disappointed and unimpressed with BVS, I just don't like the direction DC is going with their cinematic universe. Hopefully this can restore some of the faith I once had in DC.

I will give Suicide Squad a chance, but I don't have high hopes for it right now. I hope to be proven wrong though.

Eh, the first reactions to BvS were also 'positive' too, but we all know what happened there. I'll be curious to see actual reviews of it vs. a handful of cherry picked tweets littered with stupid hashtags.

I'm looking forward to the movie but you'd have to be nuts if you fall for the classic "early fan reactions" trick. Anyone remember the standing ovation BvS got from WB executives or the overwhelmingly positive reactions it got from fans about a week before the release? Sh#t like that don't work anymore.

Yeah, remember all the great Fantastic Four comments as well from "Fans" who got early screenings.

Yeah Tranks "average 4" was supposedly awesome according to early fan screenings......as we know? It most certainly was not.

Now I feel that The Squad will be WAY better than Tranks onscreen meltdown and better than Bats vs Supes too....but early test screening posts mean zip to me now.

Those early screenings tend to be folks or family of folks who work for the studios. Why would the studio not give themselves a good review? You can't go by those early screenings. You have to wait till others see the film.

Still I have high hopes for this one! The trailers are giving me a GOTG vibe. That's a good thing.

Didn't Deadpool and CA: CW have positive early fan reviews? So why isn't impossible to believe SS genuinely a good movie?

No one is saying it's impossible to believe. There's just a natural (huge) skepticism about it since the trailers have been all over the map tone wise, all the news about re-shoots happening, and being part of DC's new "cinematic universe" following the train wreck that was Batman v Superman... which also got "great" reviews/tweets before more than a dozen people saw it.

Comparatively, it was pretty much a given that Civil War was going to be great considering the talent behind it and what it was a sequel to, and Deadpool's marketing was sooooo unbelievably on point leading up to the release that it was easy to take all the glowing reviews at face value.
