I think only in few continuities do the males actually look like males. Male body shape (aka upside down triangle) and all that stuff. However in most other continuities, most of them look sexless/androgynous.

So unless something looks like a female it is a male? But male transformers don’t have to look like males to be males. Most of them in most continuities look genderless. It’s silly to think a female transformers should have to be hypersexualized to be a girl. They should have something to make them a girl, but going overboard is silly.
