I came into Transformers around 2003. My first Transformers were Armada Smokescreen and "Bendy" Prime. Since that time, I've been hooked ever since. I collected through Energon and Cybertron and played the heck out of those figures. Those were my childhood days of Transformers. I slowly drifted away from collecting though when Cybertron was taken off of general network TV.
Then the first movie came out in 2007. That movie rekindled my love for this franchise. Ever since Bay took a hold of the movies I never left this fandom. Say what you will about Michael as a director and his movies but I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the live action films. They brought me and countless other fans (new and old) back into this community and I am grateful for that.
Transformers Prime was the first Transformers series that I ever actively watched when it came out. It's by far my favorite TV series within the Transformers Universe.
I've most recently gotten into the IDW comic books for Transformers. I began reading them from the beginning of "Infiltration" in November of 2015 and got caught up with the current issues in September of 2017. Lost Light and the More Than Meets the Eye story arch is so well crafted and I look forward to each new issue.
As a college student I do not always have a lot of money for new figures so I choose my purchases carefully but I am slowly building up my collection and creating a core display of my favorite continuities.
I want to emphasis again that I am a huge supporter and fan of the live action films and newer stories like Prime and IDW but I want to make it clear that I respect where this franchise has its roots. I have watched G1 and appreciate what it is for this community. Although I did not grow up with G1 and don't necessarily care for those particular iterations of those characters, I appreciate the series and acknowledge the older fans who did grow up with G1.
All I ask in return is that you respect me and my particular tastes and preferences just as I respect yours. We are all part of this wonderful community and we can all enjoy it in our respective ways.
Thanks for reading.
