-Mine is lvl 75 but since his stats are S curved (I think) it doesn't matter.
-The fous used to give him 9k Atk could have given any other 4* Saber 11k Atk instead (d'Eon excluded).
-15k HP doesn't mean much against an NP. Defense boost or dodge skill would allow better survivability without reduced Atk.
-3 terrible skills with no team support. Golden Rule is bad because Balmung is bad. Stance Renewal on a servant with 15k HP sucks, even worse without PfA. Dragon Slayer is never useful and when it is, it's only useful 60% of the time at max rank. In a time when Saber Gilles' 3rd skill exists, in a time when Saberlot exists, in a time when Gawain exists, that is unacceptable! Dragon Slayer is also still worse than class advantage unless you're fighting Arturia/Kiyo Lancer.

The groundwork is solid between Jeanne and Amakusa and the two don't meet until the end of the second volume so I'm giving it leeway. Jeanne's monologue in volume 3 also goes more into how she sees Amakusa, his plans, and how they've reached different conclusions despite their similarities. I'm harsh on Sieg and Siegfried because the groundwork just isn't there for those two.
That makes him stabbing Mordred with it all the more impressive. Alas, the prologue must have its Saber vs. Saber fight.

This is again one of those aspects that work conceptually but the execution fails. Sieg risked his life trying to make his own choices which is incredible given his nature but it's ultimately Astolfo who spurs Siegfried to action. Siegfried saved him out of guilt and as atonement, not because he thought Sieg was living how he himself should have. Siegfried saw Sieg as nothing more than someone he let get hurt, he would have sacrificed himself for any other wandering homunculus. Sieg saw Siegfried as nothing more than a particpant in the war who saved him and while he's grateful, that's all he feels towards Siegfried.

There's supposed to be an Ultraman comic. I thought the cover looked cool but never got it.

It kind of falls apart when you remember that most homunculus don't have wishes for Sieg's to align with in the first place. I suppose you could look at it another way and say that the people Sieg is saving are the automatons that do what they are asked and Sieg is the one who changes them but I already feel like I'm stretching it to try and make it make sense.

The general concept is fine, but the specifics, details, and execution are baffling. And I had problems beyond Sieg and Dracula.

That rings true with Siegfried and any character with ambition, really. There just isn't much in the text between the two characters nor on why it's important to Sieg that take up his mantle. Compare Jeanne opposing Amakusa, who do have thematic parallels with one another.
There didn't need to be any henshins in the first place, he had the sword and it's easy to explain the NP and Armor of Fafnir because of the core. I don't have problems with Installs, probably because it's set up early in the series (not over 25% of the way in) and it doesn't break established lore or give multiple characters new abilities all at once.

It's thematically irrelevant for Sieg's character to become Siegfried (unlike Shirou and Emiya) and the story purpose of making Sieg combat capable could have been replaced with a simple "Sieg's homunculus body is slowly adapting to Siegfried's spiritual core and hence gains his abilities". This still wastes Siegfried as a character but Apo has so many problems we have to start somewhere.

The prologue only makes sense retroactively, sure, but I was not ready for the sheer insanity the book would use to justify why the prologue exists in the first place. Worse is that Sieg doesn't even earn his gifts, everything he gains is due to coincidence. Still worse is that the romance with Jeanne is one sided... from Jeanne's side!

Volume 2 jumped so many fucking sharks how can Fragments be worse? Sieg randomly gaining 3 plot command spells, Sieg randomly turning into Siegfried, Sieg randomly absorbing Fran's energy, just everything about Spartacus, Mordred no selling a complete surprise attack from a boosted Berserker, using a command spell to fucking merge with a heroic spirit, Amakusa dragging a vampire a million miles an hour like he's Sonic the Hedgehog. How can Fragments be worse than all of that combined and still with more to come?

Reading about Jeanne in volume 3 was very soothing, I'm okay now and only reaffirms that she is best Ruler. I even feel bad for Gilles and now plan to max him out.
