Toyfare 140 is out in comic book shops today. Among the coverage is an interview with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and an interview with Aaron Archer and Greg Lombardo.

    Important details of the coverage:

    - Images of ROTF toys for Leader class Optimus Prime, Preview Bumblebee, Preview Soundwave, and the Voyager Class Starscream figure.
    - Lorenzo believes the timeframe of ROTF is about one year after Movie #1.
    - When asked about the challenge of creating Devastator on screen, Lorenzo mentions that Bay had the challenge in the first movie of having 30 foot robots. In the second movie, Bay has the challenge of having a robot almost four times that. Expect Devastator to be 100 to 120 feet tall in the movie.
    - Archer said he couldn't give away the plot point, but there's a reason that Soundwave is designed the way he is for the movie. Hasbro had a more basic toy need. So, the two were blended together.
    - Toy launch date confirmed as May 30th. A few weeks before, Bumblebee and Soundwave will be released.
    - Characters mentioned in the initial wave are "Sideswipe, Sideways, Bulldozer, Voyager and many others". Promise of more off-screen characters.
    - Robot Heroes will have better articulation
    - Bumblebee helmet has voice mixer
    - Bumblebee converting pulse cannon
    - Big ticket deluxe item for the year is still "top-secret"
    - Gravity Bots are geared towards younger kids. Convert automatically when you pick them up.
    - A Megan Fox Human Alliance figure is on Archer's "wish list".

    The Fallen's origin confirmed:
He is one of the original 13 Transformers. Lorenzo said to think of the 13 as "apostles". The Falen is the one who turns and is the reason Transformers split into Autobots and Decepticons.

Sounds good. Interesting to see Sidways mentioned, maybe that'st he R8-bot's name? Sounds as though we'll be getting a larger Soundwave figure, or at least that's what I'm hoping for :D  Should be interesting to see who this big ticket Deluxe figure will be, and what they'll look like.

"Big ticket deluxe item"? Would that be like what Concept BB was for the first movie line?

Hmm I wonder if in the movie they wanted Soundwave to be some GIANT satellite that shoots down minions into the aircraft carriers.... but to make it more toy-etic Hasbro wanted a pseudo-airplane mode.

Can you just clarify which toy we're talking about here? Do you mean the new-mould RotF Voyager Starscream we've been seeing, or a separate repaint of the old mould?

Otherwise, some interesting stuff there, particularly as regards The Fallen. I've gotta say, the plot of the new film has really got me guessing...

Wow, when you put it into feet, Devastator is tall. I love the sound of more off-screen figures, just what I wanted to here.

It would be the repaint that's been popping up, with the Cybertronian tattoos.

I'm not sure I understand this. The two were blended together? The two what?

    It's not a repaint, it's a new mold.

Big ticket item is just a phrase for a "spotlight toy". Their big attractive item for the year. My guess is that its the Devastator combiner that Red leader posted about today. Guess it's not a top secret anymore! :lol

As said above, I'm guessing its the big Devastator combiner. Probably bad wording on their part using the word "deluxe". I don't think they were trying to indicate size class, but rather using the word to describe a high-price or premium item.

Didn't Megan Fox make a joke that she would cut her wrists if Hasbro made a toy of her? (Technically, there's already a Michaela toy inside Longarm...)

Bay and company had a specific need.
Hasbro had a specific toy need.
They basically compromised and what we see is the end result.
    No more details provided.

So by "repaint" you actually mean "entirely new ROTF mold design".

Dreamworks: "We want him to be a pickup truck."
Hasbro: "Well, we want him to have G1 Soundwave's head design."
Dreamworks: "DEAL! I'm going on break."

Devastator...100-120 feet tall!? Once again, I have to say it: He's gonna be BIG. In fact, I think the gestalt's gonna redefine the term "big".

As for the Fallen...well, I'm not really surprised that HE'S the one responsible for splitting the Transformers into the two factions. I think I may have a theory as to WHY the movie title is called "Revenge of the Fallen". The Fallen wants revenge probably because Primus (if he even EXISTS in this universe) made him an outcast or something.

What surprises me is that the Robot Heroes will get better articulation. About time. :)

Megan Fox Human Alliance figure, eh? Do it, Aaron. DO EET! :ev:

For size comparison purposes, the original King Kong was supposed to be 50-60 feet, the Peter Jackson version was 25 feet.

They probably made the mistake of using 'repaint' for Starscream since he is still a F-22 & his robot mode more or less is the same. They might not have the 1st version there to compare the two.

I agree the 'secret' robot is Devestator. The magazine was probably written a month ago, before any of the images started leaking out.

Does this mean that Soundwave only appears as the toy we've seen? No Earth mode? That kinda blows.

100+ feet tall... Good Lord, that's huge.

I think the repaint is Ramet from the Voyager Movie 1 Starscream/ Thundercracker
