If only this had happened more often in the last few years maybe the continuity would still be going on. In fairness they are two very good enjoyable issues
Great news! There's also a complete announcement from the IDW website with John Barber declarations: Retailers Devour All Copies of TRANSFORMERS: UNICRON #1 and #2 – IDW Publishing
It was John and James that chose to end it. Not IDW, not Hasbro. John did an interview with with Moonbase 2 last month and John said he and James were planning to end their run and told them this and through talks pitched concluding the universe with their send off. John contacted james Roberts last year and told him he was planning on leaving after he finished his Onyx Prime story in 2018 and James said he was also outlining his conclusion too to end it soon as well and both planned out how much they needed left to end their runs It didn’t have anything to do with sales. They decided to end it on a high note.
A soft reboot was All hail megatron, 2009 ongoing and the 2012 RID/MTMTE era. Same continuity, new starting point. This is actually concluding the IDW-verse and 2019 will start a new continuity for transformers comics.
Nope I'm not convinced. Even if both wanted to end the stories they wanted to tell doesn't mean the continuity could not have gone on with new stories. Sales were down. The hasbroverse wasn't a success so they decided yo wrap it up and gave James and john the opportunity to finish their stories which IMO was great.
Well I’d take johns word over fans who don’t work for the company and just look at numbers and say “oh I think it’s ending because numbers are down. I’m not part of these conversations what so ever but I’ll draw my own conclusions instead of listening to the dude who’s been running the IDW-verse for 6 years. He’s now one of the main guys at IDW. He planned on leaving as a writer in 2018 and said James planning wrapping up Lost light too. Johns not afraid to be honest. In the same interview he even discusses paramount not letting them do movie comics for 7 years.
It's been a pretty good story. I would like to see the art clear ed up a bit though. Some pa ela are so busy and small that I can't make out what's going on.
It isn't the fans that makes me doubt it. This is happening as Hasbro is consolidating the brand across multiple venues and it would be very strange luck to be happening when they decided to both end their runs.
Um...the story (meaning the whole IDW-verse) is ending. It’s not surprising that a lot of people who got bogged down in the middle (or close to the beginning) and stopped buying would want to come back and see the big robot fight at the end. I would still guess the total of the two print runs to be a lot less than it was for one run of an average issue a few years ago.
