Gives more substantiation that this is likely to be the Cyberverse designs then. With likely some minor tweaks to RID Windblade for her figure. Interesting concept to do something similar to transformers universe though where they can repackage old with some minor paint revisions to keep them on the market, and maybe even an outlet for some minor retools of current figures like TLK Nitro Zeus with a Titan master.

Though I'd love to see stuff like that Megatron design done in a slightly larger way/upscaled. Kind of makes me wonder if the engineering might accidentally test the waters for a new 'swap part' line like the mashers and constructbots were, with a heavier dash of the FOC build your own bot that can transform methodology behind it.

Don't think it'll impact Generations though. Generations has always tried to stay distinctively separate from whatever the media backed lines are. As kind of a collector-centric packaging and classic throwback. So this is likely a way to set an evergreen standard and then media capitalize on it with Cyberverse. Much like how Mattel did the Batman evergreen line.

More than likely, the various levels of gimmick toys will be the mainline, while collectors get their own versions of these new character designs in Generations, much like we appear to be getting with the Bumblebee movie mainline.

I think that's what they are gunning for here. A generic Transformers toyline which any demographic can pick up. Some sort of Old Yet New designs which even little kids can recognize. Additionally, it'll be easier for Licence-holders because they only have to pay royalties to Hasbro since production studios are not involved. As the word say will keep things evergreen and fresh in-between major lines. It's clear that this Evergreen project is bigger than we thought it could be.

Do we have a source for the use of the term Transformers: Evergreen parsed the way it is in these news reports? Is there official usage of the term written that way?

I have the suspicion that it should simply be \"Transformers evergreen\", with evergreen used simply as a descriptor for the designs. Not the name of a franchise.

I’d be happy to see another perpetual g1 line on the shelves.

I highly doubt this craptastic line will be the successor to CW/TR/POTP. Seriously?

It's not part of the title. It's just for us fan discern the line from others. It's like how we sometimes say RID15 when it's just RID.

    That's my assumption at least.

"Evergreen" is for the amount of details and shortcuts they can make every year and charge us the same for the year prior for less and less so they can get profit margins further and further into "the green." <.< At least they're being half honest now.

My semi-educated guess is that "Evergreen" is a catchall brand designation to denote releasing a mix of old/new products at a variety of price-points to as many retailers as possible.

You are correct. These are Evergreen style products, and will be advertised to retailers as such, but they are not Transformers: Evergreen.

For those that don’t know. Somethat that is Evergreen is something that is strong year-round. An evergreen tree will keep it’s leaves through all seasons. An evergreen product is essentially something based off of a franchise thats reconizable and can be kept on shelves year-round. They aren’t a franchise like Generations or RID, they are just “basic” Transformers using universally reconized designs, thus they will always sell because it’s just an “Optimus Prime” or “Megatron.” But you can really lump anything in there with it, just like how RID15 figures will get re-released as Evergreen style products.

This would be a good way for people who missed RiD Ratchet to get a second chance.

A generic year-round line to fill the gap if there's no media line wouldn't be the worst thing while Generations does it's own thing.

The name Evergreen makes me think of that pine tree people use to put up in a car to make it smell good. Or that the toys are going to be made out of some earth-friendly product.

I still don\'t get it, why is it called Evergreen? The packaging is not green, this word is not on the boxes, so why?
I also sincerely hope it will not replace Generations. This is a cheaply made simplified toyline for kids, on the level of the Cyber Batallion series.

The term Evergreen isn't on the packaging. It was being used internally by Hasbro and the fandom has since adopted it as the term for these designs.

"Evergreen" is a common phrase referring to something that is always relevant or useable. The term is obviously derived from the Evergreen family of trees, which includes Pine, because they do not loose all of thier foliage or change colour in the winter

It's Transformers Authentics. Evergreen is the type of sales line it is to marketers/retailers. Same as how Batman's line wasn't called "Batman Evergreen" but it was an evergreen batman line. As in always relevant and current.

"Green" merchandise means fresh and relevant. A toyline that's something needed on shelves because it will always move to consumers/kids. Like how Batman figures are a perpetual demand market for kids generally.

Evergreen means perpetually green. Always green. Always relevant. Always in demand. Which is often used for toy mainstay franchises that are always relevant to kids.

Like above said about Evergreen trees.

TBH, it's probably not long until there will be a Marvel/Spider-man evergreen line.
Those are typically the 3 toy mainstay constants. Marvel, DC, and Transformers. Though Power Rangers is probably nearing that too by length of the franchise now. TMNT as well, and Star Wars is the only other I can think of off the top of my head. Those 6 seem to always have market demand and retailers wanting to keep products from those lines on shelves for consumer demand/kid demand. Hot Wheels and Matchbox themselves are evergreen by nature already. Same to Barbie really.

I'd love to see "generic" transformers designs on the shelves. Clear iterations of the characters but not tied to any specific continuity.
Not sure what Hasbro plans to do with the Evergreen line, but if we can get Generations figures of those designs, I'm in.

No one’s suggesting Generations will be replaced with the budget Authentics line, just the possibility of more complex, Generations level figures might be made using the evergreen designs.
