Considering all the different really great packaging that has come out in the last couple years, I think my favorite has been Fansproject's Retro Future figures, especially if you had been following along from the beginning. Releasing them slowly with old style packaging; then pretending the last figure in the set had been lost at sea, only to find the "korean" edition as a fill in was great. The packaging not only looked great, but it told a story

Eh, I think Vangelus must be confusing things with the Unique Toys Bruticus, because to my eye the set looks entirely toon.

All their robot modes are animation accurate, even Blast Off, as you've got the option to switch from robot feet, to animation accurate booster feet.

blast off optional feet.jpg Blast Off.jpg

Yes, Brawl & Swindle have BS vehicle modes, but that's because the animation didn't use toy accurate vehicles, but made some up. Unique Toys tried to make the animation models looks like semi realistic vehicles, to at least some effect.

The combined robot even has the option of toy chest, or Blast Offf wings.

Aside from robot mode arms, I'm pretty sure we haven't seen the vehicle modes of either Vortex or Blast Off. And yes, they are a bit less BS vehicles, because those vehicles actually exist, but otherwise this set is more toon like than what this podcast seems to suggest.

Also, not entirely related, but since Vangelus & Seth raved about the Unique Toys movie Optimus & Lockdown, I figured I'd call attention to the movie Hot Rod in the works:
    hotrod.jpg hotrod2.jpg
TFEVO TE-01 Fire Hot (not TLK Hot Rod)

Also, regarding Zeta toy's Arielbots. Pretty certain we've heard word that they'll do all individual Arielbots. That mock up of Superion was just to give the general idea of the full form, they just used dupes of the Red & Black jets to give the general idea of what they combined mode would look like.

Good Morrow, Knights of the Podcast Table. I have recently resumed hunting down transformers figures and have come across a strange recurrence. Having gone to two Targets and one Toys R Us, I came across 11 TLK Voyager Scorn figures, 7 of which were at the Toys R Us while 3 were at one Target and only 1 was at the other, while only seeing 2 Nitro Zeus, one at a Target and one at Toys R Us. I was curious if anyone else has noticed this trend, or if anyone has noticed a similar trend before in previous lines. If so, do you believe it to be a case of Hasbro shipping out more of one figure than the other, or is one character so popular that stores would need to restock them constantly, while also having to restock a less popular wavemate? Thank you for taking the time to read this. *click*

I guess I just don't see it. I've got Swindle & while his body generally conforms to the cartoon, it's a bit more blocky & a lot more greeblies details that is inherent in 3rd party. Granted I see similarities in this style to the Toyworld Constructicon robot modes loosely conforming to the cartoon models.

I can certainly see how somebody might not like that style, but I don't see how you might think that Vortex & Blast Off are in a different style. To my eye they maintain the same aesthetic.

Stop gun-shaming Warpath! He never even got to fire a shell (80s cartoon) he can give his cannon any shape he wants.

If you’re still looking for a stop motion film that’s a technically amazing but with a story that punches a bit harder..try Coraline. Same director, same animation studio, way overrated especially in regards to that Nightmare picture.

Coraline, Paranorman, Kubo and the Two Strings...

I love Nightmare Before Christmas, but everything Laika's done has easily eclipsed it in terms of both technical accomplishment and storytelling.

Yeah, Kubo and the two strings is a big part of why I'm tentatively going to see this next Transformers movie. Plus Travis Knight knows how to animate, so hopefully the CGI will be more followable and impactful in this movie.

Yo, I'm a big Omega Red fan. I remember when I got the old Toy Biz X-Men figure of him back in the early 90's. I still have it!

I still haven’t seen Kubo. ParaNorman is good, but I just don’t feel like it hit the high bar set by Coraline. I actually like the Boxtrolls better than ParaNorman.

I am pro-trapezoidal barrel. Also, the musical aspect of The Nightmare Before Christmas are a huge part of why it's great. And don't let irritating fans take away things you enjoy. Plenty of great things have awful fans.

DX9 and XTransbots are both doing their own very animation-based takes

Oh absolutely - my meaning is sometimes I'm more in the mood for the stop-motion than the musical. Which means I should check out the volume of stop-motion work I've clearly gotta catch up on that folks have mentioned in here

I started collecting 3P legends a few months ago so I'm trying to catch up and not miss new stuff at the same time. I don't mind not being interested in some of the upcoming figures, there are plenty of ones that I absolutely want.

Appreciate the help but those aren’t it. These are new versions, not exact animation takes. I remember the Dead End rendition was the only one out as of TFcon Chicago last year and I believe he was a Porsche.

Thanks to using a site other than BBTS because of their awful new layout, I found them. TransForMission

You guys were talking about Admiral Akbar's favorite music and neither of you suggest trap. I'm not sure if I'm disappointed in your for missing the obvious joke or proud of you for skipping the obvious joke.

In entirely unrelated matters, have you checked out any of the MechPlanet Hot Soldiers stuff, Vangelus? I got their Ironhide and Ratchet a couple weeks ago and I think they're some really good entries into the legends-scale third party market.

\'Who is this \"David Fake Eyes\"  They keep talking about.  I\'ve tried every way I can think of to spell it, along with words like \"toys\" or \"Transformers\", but the best results the Internet sees fit to give me is \"Jason David Frank\". ><
