As a producer. I'll admit that his IMDB page is not very encouraging, but maybe he has some good ideas...

With all due respect, there has never been a piece of fiction featuring talking robots meant to sell toys that would make Transformers as a brand look "dignified" in the eyes of the movie critic world or even large segments of the general public. The best bet is a series of financially successful summer entertainment blockbusters that large segments of the general public enjoyed and spent money on, which is what we got for the most part.

Even with the big decline in box office from the first four films to The Last Knight, the movies are still the most socially accepted version of Transformers there is. Anyone thinking the average person would go crazy over a live action version of IDW is kidding themselves.

My whole attitude to this news is, "whatever."

And that's what's wrong with contemporary western society. There is no way you can defend how poor our movies have gotten (Star Wars, Transformers, practically every action film made in the past 30 years...).
Every franchise has the possibility to be art. Transformers has the chance to transcend its current social connotation and become a beautiful story. However, as you suggest, if we continue being apathetic and lazy towards film writing and making, we will never have a well made Transformers film.
Film in its pure and true state is a form of art. To bastardize and settle for mind numbing American-testosterone infused movies with no plots is disgusting and appalling. There is no way you can defend these movies, even if you're a fan.

Are other countries making Transformers movies currently? No. Now, could another country make a better movie based off of Transformers? My opinion is surprisingly yes. When you have a society that doesn't appreciate good storytelling, they will never evolve past that state, unless motivated or forced to. Right now, it doesn't like things will change for awhile.

    Why isn't it?
All things come from a spark of creation. Some little piece of inspiration that ignites into bigger.

While I agree there are areas of the general audience that the depth of art goes over their heads, to say that Hollywood is devoid of such art is ignorance itself. Especially after we've gotten movies like Passengers, Power Rangers, Pacific Rim, Rogue One, Episode 7, Wonder Woman, and many many others. Without Hollywood's influence many of the movies and series from abroad wouldn't be what they are today. Much of their influences stem still from Hollywood inspirations. Same as much of NuHollywood stuff and more is inspired by art from abroad, as art continually grows from inspiration in a reciprocal pattern of growth. It's a world-wide ecosystem that builds on each other without creative borders.

To be fair, it's not like you can really improve that while still staying true to the source material. It being shit would've been the most probable outcome regardless of who was behind this atrocity.

This has got to be the most Generic post ever on this site. Action movies for the last 30 years aren't that poor.

As for Mooradian, give him a chance. I can see what he would do.

Mad Max: Fury Road proves you completely wrong. And Baby Driver, too, if we're being honest here.

They should make live action TV shows, based on Transformers or G.I. Joe.

Some filmmakers try to make art, but every major studio tries to make money. That's it. They need to make movies that appeal to a large percentage of the general public and not to the small number of Transformers fans (even small compared to the number of people in the fandom) that want something more akin to an artistic indie film.

First off, I wouldn't use "disgusting and appalling" to describe the appeal of summer blockbuster franchises meant to sell toys. People don't have to like them, but disgusting and appalling would be, well, lots of actually bad stuff that goes on in the real world.

Second, the films do have plots. You don't have to like them, and they, like all Transformers fiction, have plots that aren't real world realistic, but they have plots.

Third, Transformers fiction is often focused on the war and its effects. Of course it's going to be filled with acts and words of machismo from robots who have been in conflict for millennia.

But what if some people like the movies? Many people like the films for legitimate reasons.
