Trademark application season continues with Hasbro Incs' new application for the mark OVERRIDE within the usual "Toy action figures, toy vehicles and toy robots convertible into other visual toy forms"

Whilst this doesn't guarantee any intent for a new toy or character using the name, Hasbro often file for Trademarks to help protect IPs, it is an indication of Hasbro's continued USPTO application activities which often take place at this time of year.

For those wondering the previous application for the mark OVERRIDE was in October 2003 with Hasbro last filing a "Combined Declaration of Use & Incontestability" in November 2010 against that mark.

With a lot of the marks coming up for their 5 year renewal, or 5 years since their last renewal, I expect to see a lot more applications for older marks over the coming months.

The only other significant Override is Cybertron Override. So...

 

Well, it very well could be a new version of Cybertron Override. Hasbro wants to increase the females, after all. Also she's been in the comics lately.

 

Cybertron Override would be neat as she could potentially be a pretool of or shared mold with Elita

 

It better be Cybertron Override. G1 Override would be...just wrong for so many reasons.

 

It could also just be a placeholder name grab for a TiM.

 

So......... What's that in English now again?

 

I'd love a new version of Cybertron Override. It'd fit in well with the comics, and the original one is... not a great toy. I'm in the process of making an IDW Girls shelf waiting for Victorion as the centerpiece and the old Override just doesn't go well with my Combiner Hunters/Botcon Elita and Moonracer/Animated Blackarachnia

 

If there's an IDW Override toy I'm not sure this fandom is ready for another debate on "grrrl power toyz in Transformers lul".

 

Didn't TakaraTomy release a repaint of Legends Groove as this guy? Would Hasbro consider doing such a thing here?

 

I could see Arcee being repainted into Cybertron Override with a new head.

TF Cybertron Override would make a great retool/repaint option for a new G1 or IDW based Rodimus...

 

The old Cybertron Override figure is kind of a mess with its poorly implemented auto-transformation and the weird proportions (GIANT torse/tiny arms.) I'd love it if they made a new version that was a bit more cartoon accurate.

Of course if this is the Override that is becoming a new figure, I'm sure the design will be pretty gender neutral since her Japanese counterpart was male, and I would imagine Takara would release the mold in Japan. (And I think the somewhat gender neutral look in the animated design is why they ultimately picked that character to be female.)

 

I hope it's a Cybertron based Override but realistically it'll be the Groove repaint Takara did.

 

I doubt they'd do the Legends Groove repaint... Maybe they're gonna do a deluxe Groove repaint as a reversal of Tomy's Override/Groove situation. I should go buy some popcorn now...  

 

I'm hoping it's G1 Override, as I love the triggerbots, but I think Cybertron Override is pretty likely, and that's not a bad thing.
