Information on the Australian RID DVD set, thanks to Kirben, who is also a member of TFW (so credit goes to him for this).

Cover art and details at the JB HiFi site. (image attached to this post)

Produced by Beyond Entertainment, who did the Rescue Bots DVDs.

4 DVD set - 527 minutes (if it is all 26 episodes, they must be only 20 minutes long).

    Release date - September 1st 2015.

AU$49 - delivery only, no in-store pickup. (they might stock them in the stores, but ask your nearest store first if they are getting it in, or if they can get it in for you)

Region 4 PAL - so just like the Rescue Bots DVDs (which are better than the American DVDs by having all the episodes), this might be a tease for Americans who can't play Region 4 PAL (if Shout Factory are only releasing random episodes like they did with Rescue Bots). If you can play and watch R4-PAL DVDs, the JBHifi site ships to other countries, so go to the link and order away... AU$49 would be about US$35 at the moment. (they also have the Rescue Bots DVDs, which is now up to the second Season)
If only Beyond Entertainment spent the extra money on making the Rescue Bots and RID DVDs Region Free, they would make a lot more sales from people in countries that aren't getting them.

For those in Australia, it says that it is exclusive to JB Hifi, but I can't imagine Beyond Entertainment would limit their availability like that, considering it is the current mainline series/cartoon for the Transformers brand, so they should be in every store (unless they are doing volumes for regular retailers, and JB gets the Season set for the Collectors).

It is worth noting that we have only had the first half of the Season play on TV here, and that was on a Pay-TV station... so this is very unusual for us to have a Transformers DVD out before it has screened on TV here. (and even more unusual to have it released before America)

I am debating whether or not to get this and the RB DVDs.

Maybe since my dad does not like using his credit card, I will et a pre paid Visa and use it instead. Yes!

Considering you can download this for free off of torrent sites in 1080p, I can't fathom why anyone would want to buy this on an old media like DVD.

Some people prefer to have something physical, like having cash instead of digital numbers in a bank account.

And maybe some people prefer to earn what they get, instead of freeloading off others or stealing.
If you worked overtime and didn't get paid for it, would you respect your boss for freeloading off your effort?

I personally like to have physical copies of all the shows - I've got every show released on DVD to date, except Zone, since it was a bonus with a collected edition of the three Takara shows.

Plus I can play any region DVDs on my setup. I've not got working Blu-Ray yet.

I'm all for buying, but ain't nobody buying 480p. This isn't 1998. All of our TVs do 1080p. There is zero reason for this not to be a bluray.

I'll get this, the Beast Machines set, Prime, Victory, Cybertron, and maybe BW and that's really all the DVD sets I want.

Beyond again? I wonder why Madman didn't bother with the rights. Though seeing as Madman hasn't released Prime on Blu-Ray beyond season 1, perhaps it's not selling for them.

My friend, clearly you don't work in the corporate business world. :)  Companies pretty much get you to do overtime for free once you hit a certain point in your career.

That aside, I hear you about people wanting physical copies of their shows and I get that. But only offering a DVD set and not a Blu-ray is beyond me considering the show was presented in HD. They had better pack a ton of extras in there too as an incentive to buy them.

Maybe Shout Factory will do a release in North America on Blu-Ray?

DVD is still great for little kids who don't really notice lack of HD quality, like my nephews, to enjoy their favorite shows...if for some reason he forgot to tivo them.

You do bring up a valid point about that. I'm guessing a lot of us guys who're into having the absolute best quality forget that this show is aimed at kids who are just happy to watch it! :)

This is out now, both the boxset and the first volume on its own. I bought the boxset today at my nearby JB Hifi store for $49.

    Some photos....

Fortunately it has all 26 episodes on it, as the total running time originally noted for this release didn't sound like it was all 26.

The box set is just the four regular volumes packed inside that box above (therefore, no extra/special features with this version).
Since one of the volumes is exactly the same as the single volume that's on sale, these other three should be what gets released later, if they get released.

If internet streaming and apple store downloads weren't so common now, I'd be quite excited about having a DVD copy of a cartoon series that hasn't yet finished airing on American or Australian TV.

Guess again, mate! They're releasing the second season next month in October.

Also, so buying RID on DVD. I needs it for my completion!
