Why I like the Decepticons?
#01 I'm a military-enthusiast.
#02 Probably fueled by IDW's
Megatron Origin, and Beast Wars, but I kinda hate the generic portrayal of Decepticons as "oh haha, those stupid bad guys". They're treated as mindless slaves, gladiators, second-class citizens, whatever, by the so-called peace-loving Autobots. They deserve equality and rights, they fight for it, kudos, but the Autobots are still regarded as "good guys" after all of their misdeeds against their own kinds, the fellow Cybertronians? I fail to see the logic.
#03 Related to #02 above,
by logic dictates, one superior race tends to dominate the lesser ones, and one civilization's span of existence depends on its superiority & hegemony. And by such logic, Megatron was right all along, peace through superior firepower, which occured countless times on our own history of human civilizations. So, the big picture now is, the Autobots discriminate the Decepticons as second-class citizens, and yet regards the alien races (humans, Nebulans, etc) as equal to them, even going as far as killing Decepticons (read: Fellow Cybertronians) to defend those aliens? Great one, Autobots.
#04 They're the pioneer of many technological advancements. Triple-changer, multi-changer, gestalts, and many other marvelous achievements, which were later simply copied by the Autobots. Who's the first triple-changer in
TF history? Blitzwing. He's a Decepticon? Check. Who's the first multi-changer? Sixshot. A Decepticon too? Check. Who's the first gestalt? Devastator. Another Decepticon? Check, check.
#05 They have much much more interesting designs/molds if compared to the Autobots.
#06 "Transformers" is about
change. Ever-changing & dynamic, right? And by Lord Megatron alone, he represents that aspect perfectly. Different series, different design, different aspects. Walther P38, Abrams, alligator, tyrannosaurus, dragon, bat, monster, serpent, tank, jet, race car, a floating fortress/citadel, helicopter, etc. If compared to Prime, who seemingly stuck with being a semitruck since 1984 - 2009. How boring & repetitive is that.
#07 They have many interesting personalities. Treacherous Starscream, thug-like Rumble & Frenzy, logical Shockwave, loyal Soundwave, pacifist Thundercracker, big bully like Motormaster, opportunistic Swindle, paranoid like Breakdown, pessimistic Dead End, maniacal Galvatron, and many other examples. If compared to most Autobots, "OMG We're defeated!" *Prime arrives* "Yay! We'll kick Decepticreeps!", heh, they're like, what, the same from one to another.
#08 The names like Devastator, Bruticus, Predaking, Menasor, Abominus, are more well-known than Defensor, Computron, etc. Especially Devastator.
#09 Proof of Decepticons' existence on popular culture? Family Guy, Robot Chicken, Colbert Report, Judas Priest's song
Hellrider is about Decepticons, they're also mentioned on Dr Dre's song. Heck, even in the novel World War Z by Max Brooks, an expandable pistol for use against zombies is called the "Meg"; a footnote points out that it is named after the Decepticons leader, Megatron.
#10 - #??, more will be added on this post later. Gotta sleep now.
Cybertronian by birth. Decepticon by choice.
All hail Megatron!

Decepticon Dominion
A new power has risen... one that heartily welcomes all Decepticon supporters to its ranks. All hail Megatron!
