    Why I like the Decepticons?

    #01 I'm a military-enthusiast.

#02 Probably fueled by IDW's Megatron Origin, and Beast Wars, but I kinda hate the generic portrayal of Decepticons as "oh haha, those stupid bad guys". They're treated as mindless slaves, gladiators, second-class citizens, whatever, by the so-called peace-loving Autobots. They deserve equality and rights, they fight for it, kudos, but the Autobots are still regarded as "good guys" after all of their misdeeds against their own kinds, the fellow Cybertronians? I fail to see the logic.

#03 Related to #02 above, by logic dictates, one superior race tends to dominate the lesser ones, and one civilization's span of existence depends on its superiority & hegemony. And by such logic, Megatron was right all along, peace through superior firepower, which occured countless times on our own history of human civilizations. So, the big picture now is, the Autobots discriminate the Decepticons as second-class citizens, and yet regards the alien races (humans, Nebulans, etc) as equal to them, even going as far as killing Decepticons (read: Fellow Cybertronians) to defend those aliens? Great one, Autobots.

#04 They're the pioneer of many technological advancements. Triple-changer, multi-changer, gestalts, and many other marvelous achievements, which were later simply copied by the Autobots. Who's the first triple-changer in TF history? Blitzwing. He's a Decepticon? Check. Who's the first multi-changer? Sixshot. A Decepticon too? Check. Who's the first gestalt? Devastator. Another Decepticon? Check, check.

#05 They have much much more interesting designs/molds if compared to the Autobots.

#06 "Transformers" is about change. Ever-changing & dynamic, right? And by Lord Megatron alone, he represents that aspect perfectly. Different series, different design, different aspects. Walther P38, Abrams, alligator, tyrannosaurus, dragon, bat, monster, serpent, tank, jet, race car, a floating fortress/citadel, helicopter, etc. If compared to Prime, who seemingly stuck with being a semitruck since 1984 - 2009. How boring & repetitive is that.

#07 They have many interesting personalities. Treacherous Starscream, thug-like Rumble & Frenzy, logical Shockwave, loyal Soundwave, pacifist Thundercracker, big bully like Motormaster, opportunistic Swindle, paranoid like Breakdown, pessimistic Dead End, maniacal Galvatron, and many other examples. If compared to most Autobots, "OMG We're defeated!" *Prime arrives* "Yay! We'll kick Decepticreeps!", heh, they're like, what, the same from one to another.

#08 The names like Devastator, Bruticus, Predaking, Menasor, Abominus, are more well-known than Defensor, Computron, etc. Especially Devastator.

#09 Proof of Decepticons' existence on popular culture? Family Guy, Robot Chicken, Colbert Report, Judas Priest's song Hellrider is about Decepticons, they're also mentioned on Dr Dre's song. Heck, even in the novel World War Z by Max Brooks, an expandable pistol for use against zombies is called the "Meg"; a footnote points out that it is named after the Decepticons leader, Megatron.

#10 - #??, more will be added on this post later. Gotta sleep now.

Cybertronian by birth. Decepticon by choice.
    All hail Megatron!

NS is got a good point, the Cons never fail in "bringin' it on"! Whether good or bad, they don't just go, "Well, we're whipped. It's over, let's go pick on someone else." Even when Armada Hot Shot had the Star Saber and was taking them all down, they still would whip it on with him.

I just finished the English-speaking Energon series. Prime just has finished off Unicron, who was being controlled by Megs and Megs is floating in space. The Cons have lost almost all their assets, so what does Megs do? He attack Cybertron and takes it over! That's some big ones if I ever seen it. Even at the end, he knows what he's got to do and goes into the sun with Starscream and Mirage - who freely go on their own.

I also found it interesting how Unicron wanted to do away with Megs' minions, but he fought back and insisted Unicron could have his men only over his offline body. There's some devotion there. He also told his men not to follow him into the sun, so it wasn't some "If I'm going to die, you all have to go with me!" thing like Hitler wanted (Hitler ordered their to be vast munitions under every German city, so when he died all of Germany would die with him). That's pretty solid stuff.

Hail, fellow Decepticons - thank you so much for joining this group, which StarscreamKills was so good as to help me start, and thank you for all the gorgeous content you've posted! I'm terribly sorry for my tardiness in posting here, and will try my best to make up for this in due course.

The Decepticons have always been a fascinating lot to me. It's not just the military hardware enthusiast in me that says this out of awe at the fact that they're sentient, advanced weapons of mass destruction. The fiction writer in me admires their nature as complex and multi-faceted antagonists, complete with full ranges of emotions; not mere caricatures of 'mindless evil' as so many other fictional villains are.

'Bad guys' though they may be labeled as, the Decepticons have also displayed many character traits that I truly admire and have always attempted to live by. They've shown fortitude, self-sufficiency, courage and perseverance - facing defeat repeatedly, skirting the end of everything they've striven for, the extinction of their comrades, the death of their dreams... and never failing to find a way out and return to carry on the battle. If that's not something to look up to, I know not what is.

I'll be posting more thoughts on the Decepticons, plus some pics of my collection in a bit. Stay tuned!

Me I always like the villains. Con's, Cobra, Venom and the other symbiote's and Galactus. I joined this group to see why other people like the con's or a con. Me, obviously my favorite is Starscream. I think he's the shit. I also like that he's a jerk, and is power hungry. I always liked that episode when he assembled the Combaticons and Bruticus, and got Meg's to say uncle. I don't like that he's a coward, but it adds humor. And of course the seekers come with the SS package. Now hopefully someone else post's a message. I don't want this group to die just like the others have.

Seems like this has been pretty quiet, so I wonder if a good discussion might help? I was wondering what you all would like to talk about concerning the 'Cons? Maybe a good ice breaker would be this: what is it about the 'Cons that would make you have an interest in being part of this social group?

Holy Shit on April 1st! I was just self-bitchin' about some ideas Caine gave me and I was saying to self, "Well at least all the TFs didn't line up and do their 'care share' powers where all their empathy comes streaming out of their fuzzy tatooed tummies" and now this crap from the folks @ TFW2005 - renamed "The Fuzzy World" with all those Care Bears schmoozing around. This calls for a Decepticon response...

Caine, I think they're always sticking it to us. It's one dumb thing after another so it never ends. Realistically, Armada should have never ended the way it did with Unicron being defeated b/c he fed off the continuous/go-nowhere wars between A-bots and D-cons. No one stays dead enough (and long enough) without coming back and/or being replaced so there can simply be another round.

Today I saw the Onion News Network's spoof on a Kafka airport that results in no one getting anywhere and being mired down in meaninglessness and absurd redundancy that has the facade of impersonal (and rude) bureaucrats. Sadly, I was just like, "This isn't just funny, it's way too true." Sometimes the "real-ist" thing I see all day are the jokes I read on this sight. Maybe I'm too TFA Cyclonus, but I'm just seeing "lame" everywhere I look...
