If they were racing, where's the other cars? This was a charity event, were are the corroborating witnesses? I'm not opposed to the theory of racing, it's sounds like a possible theory.

I'll need to see the video again, but your assessment sounds right, actually. I do remember it being pretty wide open. The whole thing is a sad, sad shame, but if it was due to street racing, that really sucks.

You know how impulse street races are said to start off, right? Two cars are at a red light. One driver makes eye contact with the other and nods. The other driver acknowledges by revving his car's engine. Green light. They drive off. Car two loses control and crashes. Car one sees the destruction and drives off.

As cliche as that sounds, it's one way of looking at it.

^Ah, hmm. It's like you're looking for an infraction. (Edit: Not you Cheetatron, the post above yours that just got deleted.)

First film I saw him in, weirdly was 'She's all that'. I actually went onto IMDB to see what other films he'd done aside from the FATF films.

I think 'high speed' had more to do with it than 'racing'. In a car like that who wouldn't want to open up the taps a little bit? The sad fact is if they weren't driving so fast they'd still be alive.

Also, after seeing a pic of the burnt out car, I dunno what accident investigators can glean from that mess.

I'm sure it will. Last I read, they were discussing over how to proceed with filming it to keep it respectful to him. Something I wish certain folks in this thread would do.

Sounds entirely plausible, honestly. My wife's half sister lost a cousin because he was drag racing with his father. The father avoided the tree and the son slammed into it, killing him instantly. He's never been the same since. He takes it day by day, but you can tell he's absolutely destroyed because it was his idea to do the race.

I hope his other unreleased films are dedicated to him as well.

Yes, a beautiful car was destroyed, but you have to look higher than that. Cars are replaceable. People are not. I can have twenty different Carreras and decide to give them all ridiculous paintjobs and license plates that say "TOASTR1," "TOASTR2," and "TOASTR3," then destroy them all, but I can't have the same person twice.

Just for the record, even as mentioned in the thread already, though I know information tends to get looked over/passed by when threads get so long, but the "other guy's name" is Roger Rodas. CEO/co-owner of Always Evolving, and friend to Paul.

This was definitely the saddest of news for me over the past weekend. Paul Walker was one of my top actors. I always enjoyed the movies he was in, and feel the industry, and the world in general, has truly lost a great person with this accident. One of my biggest questions is; who was it that was recording the car while on fire.. Did he call 911? Did he think of helping, no matter who was in the car... because from what I saw on that video, your 15 minutes of fame cost people their lives..

Dude. That car was ablaze. There was absolutely nothing a normal person could do at that point without getting seriously injured themselves. Only thing to do was wait for the fire department.

Dude there was over 50 people that witnessed it, and many did their best including Rogers 8 year old son. Nothing could be done.
