Road biked 29.2K @ 26.32KPH, got 2 flat tires, I wiped out on a wet wooden bridge (in a curve( and some jerk threw a hot dog sausage (!!!) at me from a car. In July, another ****** threw lit up fireworks at me. This sport is getting dangerous.
Hey guys, I've been lifting (beginner) for a while now, but ever since I started seeing fitness forums I've always seen people post something like this: And they vary from user to user. What do those numbers usually mean? Take for instance some of Hotshotprime43's exercises from his last post: I understand the weights and the exercises, but what do 1x8, 2x10 and 3x10 mean? I know this may sound like a stupid question, but I haven't been able to find anything about it.
first number is usually the number of sets. And the second is the number of reps in a set. so: 1x8 is one set of 8 reps. 2x10 is 2 sets of 10 reps, and so on. Not everyone follow the same programming so thats why you see a large variation between lifters with some guys doing 5x10s or 3x12s, while others do 3x5s or 5x5s. Lower rep ranges is usually done by guys chasing strength gains, while the higher rep range is people wanting bigger muscles. And there's programming that blurs the lines.
I see. Thanks! Also, what's the usual time of rest/recovery/waiting between sets? Does it depend on the type of exercise? I do 1-2 mins before starting the next set.
Again depends on the rep range. When doing sets of 10-12 I give myself 45 seconds to a minute at most unless I feel like crap or I need to pace myself like if I am maxing out. When I maxed on bench by the time i got to 225, 240, 245, and 250 all for one I was giving myself 3 minutes break in between. So when Iam doing Dips I usually go for 10 and will give myself a minute in between.
After being out for a week im back at it. Bench press 8x3s. 195lbs. 76% of 1RM. Week 4. Rep Set got 6x reps out. Wasnt too bad. Back felt ok too...i should be good for deadlift deload tomorrow.
Road biked 35.3K @ 30.12KPH. Been fighting a cold for about a week, feeling slow and tired right now.
Sumo deadlift 8x3s. Deload week. 225lbs. Felt really good. Was kinda nervous on the first set, wasn't sure how my back would take it. Sadly about the 7th set, could start to feel my back tighten up a little. Wasnt planning to but did a Rep set. Got 16 reps out. Then took the next 10mins to stretch my back, get that knot out :/
Biked 10.1K with my son this morning, then mountain biked 18.2K in the trails by myself in the afternoon.

Yea I thought Dexter should have won but they kind of just gave it to Phil. No offense to the guy he is a beast but I don't feel he is the best of the beasts.
I finally found a dr who got me the right dosage of thyroid meds, stopped eating out, stopped frying foods, walk 1 hr a day 30 mins on lunch 30 mins after work and supper. Then I like to do Just Dance with my kids on the WII. Started eating more fruits, veggies and less processed foods and cooking homemade everything just about. Also switched from white floured breads, pastas and flour to wheat. I have lost a total of 30lbs since the first of the yr.
