    What.

When I first heard the news, I thought it was an joke, until I realized today isn't April 1.

I really hope they change their minds about the Star Wars movies (not because I'm expecting them to be bad (that would depend on the writer), but because the saga was about Anakin Skywalker and it just wouldn't be right to make more movies), although I wouldn't mind another Indy movie.

Uh, before it was about Anakin, it was about Luke, and his is the more compeling story. And don't give that crap about it all being Anakin's story, because the orginals are clearly about Luke's heroic journey.

Lol that you think Disney ruined Marvel. The Avengers was one of the most successful movies ever. The only ruining that Marvel is doing is the dumb things in the current comics, which Disney has no imput on.

I see this as good news. Get the franchise into some new hands. I do think that Hasbro might be the next corporation in Disney's sights, though.

I felt a great disturbance in the force as if millions of nerds cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

Seriously I have to wonder what this does for Hasbro's Star wars Toy Licenses.

No he didn't. He keeps changing his story every time he's asked about it. He's claimed "just 6" and "12 total" at different points. The truth is he wrote it as a one-shot as a Flash Gordon ripoff because he couldn't get the rights, and then the studio asked for more when it became a success.

Agreed. The Star Wars franchise has become stale. This is a good thing.

Maybe they bought it because the figure George Lucas is the only one who knows how to get Walt out of carbon-freeze.

I think this could be ok, marvel hasn't changed much since being mouse holed, though I'd kinda expect kingdom hearts to have marvel and starwars in it as well as what it has had...

Right now, nothing. Just like Paramount was still able to distribute Marvel films after that purchase (Disney had to buy out Paramounts contract to distribute Avengers).

Hasbro will make Star Wars toys until 2017. We'll probably find out 2016 if the license changes hands.

Wait...so now, Disney OWNS Star Wars, instead of just "rents" them? Sweet!

Well I had a feeling that Lucas would one day sell the SW name (we all know that he's made more than enough money from that franchise) so Disney's purchase doesn't really shock me - But fuck me dead we're actually gonna get episodes 7,8 & 9?! Being that the last 3 movies were gigantic clusterfucks, I thought they were never actually going to see the light of day but "They're going to make Episodes 7, 8 & 9!" :O

I'm fine with Lucas selling up - as long as it keeps him outside the creative process for Ep7-9, I'm happy with that.

(plus, the ongoing nerdrage with people promising to leave the planet, and acting as if their lives have been personally ruined by a movie we have no concrete details on is utterly hilarious. Keep entertaining me, TFW)
