I have a 2007 Huyndai Accent, and my remote car starter won't work anymore, I tried with a new battery nothing, I put the key into the ignition and I can see the lights go on and the radio working, but I can't see to unlock the alarm. I am wondering is their a cut off switch? And if so where is it located as I don't want it anymore. Thanks
If you don't know anything about a component tied to the electrical system of your car, don't fuck with it. If you want it removed, then take it to the dealer or wherever it was installed and have professionals remove it. They know how and have the tools to do it without turning your car into useless (possibly flaming - tho I'm sure Michael Bay would approve) junk or yourself into a Darwin Award nominee. --Moony
While that makes sense in theory, the fact that he's a man means that fucking with something that's broken needs to happen regardless, with or without any relevant knowledge being there. ... but yeah, if that doesn't work out & if googling doesn't help (you're best to try hyndai related forums & whatnot), then take it to your dealership or Crappy Tire & hope for the best.
Being an older Hyundai, I assume its an aftermarket alarm. If you don't have a second remote to try, you might try to disconnect the negative battery terminal on you car for a couple minutes, then reconnect it and try to arm/disarm with your remote again. If its a basic code hopping system it should reset and relearn the remote code.
Usually there's a small switch under the dashboard installed with a remote starter that lets you turn the system on and off. You may have hit the switch. I do it occasionally with my car.
