Redd Foxx. He was a classic. It's hard to believe he's been gone almost 20 years. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Redd+Foxx
Definitely George Carlin. I have most/all of his albums, all of his books, all of his HBO specials and most of his movie/TV appearances that have actually seen DVD release. One of the major people who shaped not just my sense of humor, but a lot of my personal philsophies, as well.
Richard Pryor will always be my favorite. Steve Martin is close behind, but more because of his films than his actual standup. Cheech & Chong's stuff was very funny as well.
Oh man, it's going to be hard to name all of my favorite comedians. So... in no particular order, I will just name ones that come to the top of my head. Ron James Russel Peters Tom Kenny (he used to do standup, it was hilarious!) Gabriel Inglesias John Pinette (his first 2 DVD specials are 90% exactly the same though...) Tommy Tiernan Craig Ferguson Greg Proops Also, I am a HUGE fan of Improv comedy, since yesterday this whole weekend I will be watching many many Improv shows, and both today and Tomorrow will feature Colin Mochrie Tomorrow I might have the opportunity to join the after party with Colin, so I may just be skipping work on Monday...
I've got a cup like it. Next time I watch Video In A Plain Brown Wrapper, I should drink out of it in honor of Redd.
George Carlin (not mentioning him as a favorite stand-up comedian should be a crime) Patton Oswalt Louis C.K. Kyle Kinane Brian Posehn Dave Chappelle ...and others I'm too lazy to come up with right now.
Stephen Lynch is one of my favorites, but not sure if he's stand up as he's mostly song + comedy from what I've seen of him. These are some of my favorites from him. Explicit warning on most of these songs. Superhero Lullaby Song Voices In My Head Talk To Me She Gotta Smile Kill a Kitten D&D Classic Rock Song Sidekick Version 1 Sidekick Version 2 Down To the Old Pub Instead If I Were Gay Dear Diary - Michael Jackson Dear Diary - Rhianna In case you're wondering how talented he is, he starred on Broadway in The Wedding Singer. It's Your Wedding Day
Surprised no one has said Greg Giraldo. Granted he was known more for roasting people but the man was fucking hiliarious.
A very popurlar danish comedian named Anders Matthesen aka "Anden" (The Duck. Its a play on words with his first name).
I like that guy that makes the goat noise. He was on Half Baked with Dave Chappelle. Oh, I'm on the internet, I don't need to sit here and wonder what his name was. Jim Breuer. Dave Chappelle Lavelle Crawford Ralphie May
