    We're foster-nursing a soon-to-be one week old heifer calf.

    20231028_161055.jpg

    Meet MS-X106-F2 "The-O."

    20231026_154401.jpg

The newest calf in my line of Moobile Sweeties, cows named after Mobile Suits. Her mother Jesta has an engorged udder, same thing happened when she delivered Nemo and Kai, which makes nursing her calf a problem.

    20231028_162456.jpg

As you can see here she's got swollen, tender teats and the calf can't get ahold of them. So we're feeding the new doll until she's able to suckle from Jesta, and Jesta is allowing us to support her calf. She refuses to let TheO out of her sight but trusts us to feed her.

    20231028_162246.jpg

TheO imprinted on us almost instantly on the day she was born, which makes things a lot easier since we're not having to force a bottle on her or tube feed her. She even races into the stable with the other calves we're stockering, and demands her bottle.

When Jesta was away from the gate after one afternoon feeding, Nemo came up instead.

    20231027_144748.jpg

Nemo acts like a good big sister while she's coming due to deliver her first calf. Hopefully we won't have to take care of her calf too.

Yesterday afternoon's bottle o'clock in the stable, The'O literally sucked the life out of the bottle.

    20231029_152834.jpg

Last night, she didn't want a bottle but still wanted to come into the stable.

    20231029_194927.jpg

    "I'm here!!!"

This afternoon, she didn't want a bottle either... because she's finally tapping on her mother's milk tank!

    20231030_151242.jpg

Those teats are looking flaccid and one's completely drained.

    20231030_151304.jpg

Which explains why somebody wasn't hungry, but she's still my moobile doll.

I just wanna say this is my favorite illustration ever. My sister and I absolutely love it and share with each other every Christmas. A silly tradition probably but good job buddy! Thanks for making this all those years ago :)  would love a high resolution copy if anyone or Makotron if you got one still.

@rapid_fire man, once I get caught up on making figure reviews after 12 (sometimes 16) hr work days, get snowed in and can't see my wife and children...I hope to be able to have time to make such things :p

Early Christmas gifts from my sister and her partner:

    IMG_20231224_163442650~2.jpg
    IMG_20231224_163455206~2.jpg

    Reminded me of my father.

Episode 1 was the only Star Wars film we saw in theaters.

    He fell asleep.

Even started to begin snoring :D

Normally I don't keep stuff in box, however I'm making an exception.

    Edit -

She is spending time with her partners (other halves) family tomorrow.

    I'm 38.

    She's 40.

She said she doesn't care for the term boyfriend.

What with being a bit older and whatnot.

Granted, I don't really care for labels in general.

Belated Christmas gift from my best friend:

Told him now I have to buy a tree.

As when it comes to decorations, I'm a bit of a minimalist.

The city I live in, decided to have a drone show for New Year's.

    Instead of fireworks:

    5350939956819318016~2.jpg

The city is known mainly for its whaling past.

So a a lot of it was nautical themed.

One was a fishing rod catching a fish.

It even had the reel seat turn.

Not sure if that's actually what it's called?

I ended up Googling parts of a fishing rod.

If I am indeed mistaken, somebody please feel free to correct me.

As I'm always willing to learn.

In order to reel in the fish.

Raising cows in the hands on method. It's easier to start when they're young.

I've spent the past two weeks domesticating a three month old bull calf born in the turnout pen named Mango, of Goldo and Lemon, with "stud" potential and videotaping it.

My previous episodes were just of him getting closer to me, taking hay, head pats, and chin scratches, reciprocated with arm licks. This time it was at the feed trough with the other younglings joining him, and eating cattle cubes from my hand.

Up next on the spoiling program is the yearling Shady, of Grayson and Sandy, out in the main field and still slightly feral, but becoming more approachable. One of her herdmates, Bonita who has been on my radar for attention, introduced her to the cattle cube 'treat'ment. Now she's insatiable for them.

Bonita showed her to stand at the fence and wait, but Shady didn't hesitate to come get something when I opened the gate. Here you can see how they start to pick up on verbal commands.

When calves are special because they know they are. This goes especially when raising bulls. Fortunately, this one is more like his father, who is the biggest gentle creature I've ever worked with since Hungy.

    20240106_153644.jpg

Mango has always had that air of confidence since he was born, and his mother knows it. Once I started treating him more with the hands on approach, he's gotten more bold and personable. Lemon, his mother also encourages the behavior.

One of the cooler photos I’ve taken recently. Went to a butterfly conservatory, and there’s this woman just covered in tattoos. Whatever lotion she had on was attracting the butterflies like crazy, so I asked if it was okay to take a few pictures, because I thought the juxtaposition was just gorgeous. Didn’t even notice the white, butterfly-shaped neck tattoo above the real one until much later.

There's an old saying "Nothing stays buried forever."

I lost my folding pocket knife in the middle of the cow pasture back in June of 2022. The area turned to mud and trampled hay, so finding it was next to impossible but as the saying goes, nothing stays buried forever.

    20240219_153148.jpg

What was lost is found, after two years of rain and bad weather it finally floated to the surface. I cleaned it up in my ultrasonic cleaner.

    20240219_164025.jpg

Surprisingly, it opens just fine and the blade is in tact. The handle is chemical resistant, shows no damage from the elements, and the belt clip is sound.

    20240219_195618.jpg

There is some rust damage but the blade itself is fine, just needs a polishing and sharpening.

    20240220_190713.jpg

I'm in the process of cleaning it up some more in a pot of WD40, but I killed my ultrasonic cleaner to do it. The replacement cleaner is on its way now but it's good to have this back in my tool kit.
