As creepy as this is THAT Is AWESOME!!!!!

Miku Hatsune needs to stay within her cyberspace constraints though...

and after watching over again Anime characters need to stay within their Fantasy boundary this is as far as it needs to go.

They don't fit into reality at all.....

How exactly is that done? It says projected onto a mesh screen. I couldn't see any screen & the camera moves in a few shots.

One one hand, it looks pretty impressive. On the other, anime characters should stay in cartoons, not real life.

    What's next? Sharon Apple?

-Actually that'd be pretty damn awesome if they start having concerts like those!

Dethklok did it better. And Gorillaz, of course.

Not to mention Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

Great display of technology...put to the use of slapping up an image of some underage-looking anime chick singing bland pop music.

Oh Japan, don't ever change. :lol

And the countdown begins till the program is used for anime porn. Gogo 3-D tenticle violation.

Strange, I was at a Gorillaz concert two days ago and I didn't see any holograms. Unless the live-action players were holograms, in which case I've just witnessed the greatest feat of technology ever!

Wow. What a list of incredibly predictable "We don't get you, Japan" responses. Don't go changing, GD.
Personally I love Vocaloids, largely becauseof the ingenuity involved. I'd also point out that the voice you just heard isn't actually a human being at all. It's entirely computer generated. Brendon Small & Damon Albarn are real people; Vocaloids aren't.
I wonder how many of you worked that out when you were blathering on about it being done before...?

There's lots of different Vocaloids; Hyena collects the figures. I use them for backing vocals.

Surely these shouldn't be called holograms - they're 2D projections onto a clear surface...

I must admit that the movement animation is impressive if it's all done manually though, I was wondering if some mocap is used?

More than likely. Although some of the videos on YouTube that feature Vocaloids were done by hand.

Is that what this video is? Shit, I was gonna buy one of those Vocaloid Figmas because I thought it looked cool. I might not now... :/
