This is the best post in the entire thread. As for the topic on hand, I think the technology behind the mo-cap used for the dance moves and the actual Vocaloid singing is more advanced then the actual projection systems used to bring them to "life" on stage. That said, not being a fan of Vocaloids or jp music myself, that was still pretty cool. Music is different when it's a "live" performance with a live crowd to enjoy it with you, so I can see why they'd do something like this.
there was a new concert recently, and they used new models: YouTube - Mikupa 2011 Vocaloid 4th Live Concert (Full) i honestly love the new models, while they are more cartoonish than the old ones, they are more lively and just more enjoyable to watch......and yes, this thread has made me a vocaloid fanboy, i can't help it, it is luka's fault my favorite part is at 24-25 minutes in when luka appears, just how lively the model is when singing the two songs "no logic" and "rip release" amazes me
there was a lot of rage all over the japanese sites over that, because it was basically just a big TV playing on stage. Not the fancier transparent screen they used before. The company even apologized for it.
i heard about the rage, i honestly didn't mind it, you lose some of the "3d"ness, but i personally found it easier to see the models and overall more enjoyable to watch
There is apparently a Blue Ray of their 3/9 concert. Must own. I smile every time I see the translation for "Double Lariat" Edit: Fuck it. $100+ for that could be better spent elsewhere.
haha thats pretty cool, and for some reason, kinda hot. what? eveyones thinking it im just saying it! lol
this is currently my favorite vocaloid song: YouTube - part of this song was in the recent concert, favorite part of the concert
I knew it was only a matter of time that this was going to happen, I think once the technology really gets "there" I think we'll start to see movie stars and pop stars coming out of computer labs.
Funny thing, I'm not a huge fan of the voices themselves (I do enjoy them, don't get me wrong). But many songs released starring the Vocaloid characters are really amazing. Then when you have an actual human vocalist sing these songs, it only gets better (most of the time): YouTube - Melt - 3M Mix [Gazelle] I guess you could say I'm more of a fan of the creative process behind them.
um watching that half of my body froze and I felt like part of me died. Knowing this happened. But I kept watching and I got a bad taste in my mouth. oh man this really just hit me in the wrong spot.
It's amazing how fiction become reality, would love to see a live Sharon concert performed like this, now that would be awesome. Honestly though wile it's kinda strange, judging from some of those YouTube videos I think they pull off some of those vocaloid shows quite well considering.
Yeah, it's definately not as good as the first concert but they DID do some interesting things this time around, like having most of the songs play together in one big medley and having the characters act more energetic during preformances. The models are definately rougher though. Not as smooth and 3-dimensional as before. I blame the tv screen. It got rid of the glowstick glare that the original transparent screen had, but it lowers the quality. Atleast they take the feedback to heart though. Doubt we'll see the big black box in any future concerts now.
