2). Have you developed any lasting friendships on a message board?
3). How would you improve the layout of one?
4). Is there a group/type of person you avoid on a message board?
5). Do you spread the word about certain message board sites?
6). Generally speaking, what is your experience with more "senior" posters than yourself?
7). Are you a staff member on any message boards?
8). If the answer to #7 is yes, how do you feel about it?
9). Do you welcome new members to sites?
10). What is your experience with the flaming and/or trolling of other members? | Hm, pretty straight forward.
1). Do you enjoy message boards?
Most of the time.
2). Have you developed any lasting friendships on a message board?
No.
3). How would you improve the layout of one?
Depends on the board. If its TFW, I can't say how it could be improved. The layout and navigation is fine. Though, as with all MB/forums, the search function is terrible and doesn't really help in locating threads so people can avoid doubling up.
4). Is there a group/type of person you avoid on a message board?
The people that are irascible and easily angered as well as hard core members that think they are the arbitrators of how everyone should see a given subject/material. You get to know who they are after a while.
5). Do you spread the word about certain message board sites?
Only the ones I am really enjoying.
6). Generally speaking, what is your experience with more "senior" posters than yourself?
The problem is, I think, that at times people don't check wether someone is a newbie before they attack or defend something.
They do not know the culture on the established forum, they haven't experienced the forum 'controversies' and 'issues' before - they will make uninformed or innocent mistakes.
EG. Newbies will also ask questions heard before and instead of answering them with whatever answer is available, people go off, 'oh not this again, get over it, etc, etc'. I never assume a poster knows it all. Especially new ones (easily checked by the 'joined' date).
7). Are you a staff member on any message boards?
No.
8). If the answer to #7 is yes, how do you feel about it?
N/A
9). Do you welcome new members to sites?
When I can, sure.
10). What is your experience with the flaming and/or trolling of other members?
Experienced it often on every forum, more or less, and its terrible. People (many on purpose to 'get a bite') continuing a debate and asking for facts and clarifications to what is really just an opinion or a interpretation and not a factual idea. 'why? what proof is there...show me irrefutable proof'.
Plus, those that just flame for flame's sake - cos someone hates BW or G1. Who cares? |

10). What is your experience with the flaming and/or trolling of other members? | 1. Yes.
2. No lasting friendships.
3. Well, I would need to know what I was looking at before saying it needed to be "improved". My rule of thumb is to not over do it, avoid clutter.
4. Creepers...
5. Not really, I bring them up in conversations, but I don't go around advertising.
6. Good, generally very good.
7. I was in the past.
8. It was fun to use my ideas in the make-up of a forum, but later it turned into baby sitting 500+ people. =\
9. Yes!
10. Flaming is immature and irritating. Quote:

4. Obvious trolls, I suppose
5. No
6. They can be a bit jaded, and as a "senior" poster on another message board, I can totally understand it
7. I used to be a mod on another board, but stopped a couple years ago
8. ...
9. Literally, in the sense that I say "welcome to the board"? No.
10. Meh

10). What is your experience with the flaming and/or trolling of other members? | 1. Honestly, this is the only board that actively post at, so yes I enjoy it.
2. Several online friends, yes.
3. No comment.
4. Not really, no. If you can't have discussions with people that you disagree with, then it displays a lack of communication on your part.
5. No.
6. I consider senior members on this board to be those members that joined pre-2007 movie. I love you guys! (in a strictly patonic way, of course).
7. Nope, don't have time for it.
8. ----
9. I honestly try to, but respect on message boards is always a two-way street.
10. Meh, doesn't bother me. It's just part of being on the internet. Quote:
