I must admit that ebay has been losng their minds as of late, its getting to the point that I am starting to give some thought into looking into amazon as an avenue for selling items.

In all honesty, I have lost money on shipping items b/c I didn't charge enough for shipping/ shipping supplies. Just also try to keep that in mind granted its no answers for the outrageous shipping fee, just a bit of insight into how those numbers come up.

I also thought of one more thing, find out if they are using those flat rate usps shipping boxes, MM has been shipping stuff out of here like crazy and we're finding sometimes it cheaper to go by the pound. Just a thought.

Gotta say, I have no problems with eBay. I've amassed thousands of figures in my collection through direct eBay purchases and then relationships I've developed with sellers otside eBay. Aside from the triple-dip they get from me as a seller (listing, final value, Paypal fees), I think the system works pretty well.

Set some rules for yourself to prevent problems (I don't sell to anyone with less than 50 positive feedbacks, and I don't buy from anyone with less than 99% positive) and it works great. The only two times I've been ripped off were both from Quebec, so now I won't ship to or buy from there anymore. No big complaints, otherwise.

ams: Dude, you own three different unlicensed City Commander toys and a half dozen fake third-party Prime trailers. WTH?

I saw one seller state that you are only allowed to leave positive feedback. Even neutral feedback gets counted as negative. If you leave anything less than positive feedback, he stated he would report the buyer to eBay and have the buyer red flagged among his "seller friends" and they will no longer "sell anything to you ever again!"
This to me is retarded, isn't feedback supposed to be there so a potential buyer can see the sellers history?
Are you going to do something about it? Or are you just going to stand there and bleed?

When you leave feedback, there's a section where you can rate the seller. If their rating drops below 4.5 stars, there's problems for them. When you get to the "shipping charges" portion, give them 1 star. If enough people do it, it will end up damaging their rating.

I've been ripped off in shipping before, but I've also had a few nice sellers refund me money when the shipping was cheaper than they thought.

This is an issue of the last year, the movies seem to have driven up the prices to me, what gets me is the snipeing I hardly hit ebay anymore because of the deadbeat snipers.

@ The OP -
You don't seem to understand whats involved in shipping. Since few sellers on eBay are big retailers (buy.com is one) they don't have the large profit margins and product quantities to take a hit on shipping.

Here's a shipping breakdown:
A 1lb - 1lb 15oz package sent coast to coast via Priority: ~$10, tracked (required by Paypal)
Same weight as above via Parcel Post $9, tracked
Insurance: $1.75
Handling: Usually $1 - $3 (as it's always typically been)

Also, international shipping has continued to increase along with domestic shipping.

If other post offices are like the ones around here, they no longer carry variable rate Priority boxes, so unless the seller orders boxes from USPS online, sellers have to us the Flat Rate Priority boxes which costs a little over $11 tracked.

It adds up fast but if you look at the postage printed on the package (or the weight which you can then calculate the cost at usps.com) you'll probably see the seller's aren't taking the big cut you assume. If they are, contact them or reflect shipping abuse in their feedback or star rating.

I don't know what you're talking about regarding the auction descriptions. I've noticed an improvement in descriptions since eBay took away sellers' ability to neg bad buyers. I'm thinking you're expecting too much. If the auction doesn't say something is complete and the pictures don't show it, why would you assume it is? You can always ask questions before winning.
Thanks for stating the truth. Shipping USPS can be expensive especially if a package is sent coast to coast.

And on the flip side anyone noticing that buyers are requesting more partial refunds for made-up reasons? Instant ban from future auctions. No need to have to deal with that stuff.

Little mad about it...
just stating the obvious, and didn't say anything about disproving, don't have to.

Back on topic, feedback, there are alot that never leave it just like here, no big deal but it does help you if your FB is +, and if no one leaves it anymore it can't help you out, and the most that never get left would be positive.

My least favorite thing is How if you sell something Paypal holds your money hostage for 21 days unless you get positive feedback. I have one Jackass that got his item a week ago and will not leave feedback or even respond to my emails.
