i wonder about this, sometimes.
like a person born physically one way, mentally wired the other and then add parents who intervene without knowing and try to program the child into being a certain way.

like this thread, it doesn't end well sometimes.

i am concerned that starting with a transgender issue, it is considered a sickness and then some "less than informed" soul may equate that sickness with GLBs being "sick" and the true disease of 'phobias spreads.

at the risk of having a soapbox yanked from under me, i really wish there was a better way of informing. educating about things like this instead of trying to win or convert people to one side or another.

all i know is sometimes i have trouble knowing who i am, so i can't even begin understand how a person copes with not being able to work out their own gender.

From what I've seen in person and on TV its only guys thinking they were suppose to be girls. Can't think of any cases of it being the other way around.

And in almost all cases even after the chemical therapy its still obvious that the chick used to be a dude.

But I don't hold that against them,. More power to them for trying to figure out what is going to make them happy!

I have read about a pregnant man, who was previously a woman. This not only rang a few alarms in my head and at the same time raised a few questions. All of witch I really don't want answered.

Isn't there a huge difference between sex and gender, both of which are important with transgenders? I heard about that once, but I usually don't interest myself in biology, nor do I really participate in biology/pyschology discussions...All I know is that some cases are genuine, others are just confused and even more are just attention whores, what llamatron basically said.

 

I think if someone wants to pretend to be a man, or a woman, then let em. They'll never truly be the opposite, but if they find a measure of peace in believing that they are, well done them.
