As such, saturday morning cartoons were likely accompanied by heaping bowl of sugary goodness. So many good cereals have bit the dust...fruit islands, ghostbusters, nerds, star wars, nintendo breakfast system...etc
That said, some cereals of that era are still around. I have tried a few of them, and find most to be disgusting shadows of themselves...most have reduced sugar content, or taste nothing like they used to. On the "bleh to blaaarg" list for me are: fruity pebbles, cookie crisp, captain crunch, apple jacks, peanut butter crunch, alphabits, those just off the top off my head....heres a bonus for you...how many of these AWESOME cereals from this website have you had? Topher's Breakfast Cereal Character Guide - Ralston
I had almost all of them..even rainbow brite!
RIP Ralston...sooo many delicious cereals lost to time |

I've really wanted some Quaker Oat Bran lately, do they still make that? Quote:

Lucky charms, count chocula, frankenberry; three more cereals that tasted good back in the day, that suck now.

Our Dad bought Spider-Man Cereal back when the 1990's Spider-Man:TAS was popular on FOX KIDS and it was just awful. It was like swallowing powered Flintstone's Vitamins drowned in milk to me. The same could be said of Trix, Lucky Charms, Pops, cookie crisp, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, count chocula, and host of other Cereals.
Ironically, Apple Jacks don't taste any different to me (but then I never ate them during the 80's). Two Cereals I've noticed a major change in, However, are Frosted Flakes and Cap' N' Crunch. They really don't taste the same as they used to anymore. "Burn your tongue; Your a liar because someone disagrees with you," |

that'll never change.
I think Frosted Flakes and some of the others have changed because they changed the product. reduced sugar amounts, using different grains, etc.
it is the whole "healthy" thing.
And yeah, I taste the difference in Frosted Flakes.
Oddly enough, my favorite cereal is Special K.
(i feel so girly, now...why?) it is sweet. but not sugary as hell. Quote: |

The sugar used to be like this hard shell around the corn flake; now it looks, and kinda tastes, like they just dropped it in chalk dust. On a semi-related note, Cinnamon Krunchers, introduced a few years back and also pimped by Tony the Tiger, was the best cereal evar. And they fucking stopped making it. Rage!
Feh to all this reduced sugar nonsense. Damn kids need to go outside and run that shit off. I've gone back to just buying regular Cheerios, Chex and such and adding my own sugar. |
